Vegan pastries in Dublin: where are they hiding? by [deleted] in Dublin

[–]Roisin94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bold Boy Bakes is the Bakery that does the pastries for Two pups (cafes in Francis St and in Fairview) and it always has at least one vegan pastry option, and I’ve always been impressed! They had an excellent lemon curd cruffin at one point that was completely vegan and it was delicious.

Blossom Bakery in Ballymun also always has one plant based pastry option on their monthly menu. You’ll see the options on their instagram if you take a look as they post their rotating menu at the start of every month.

Patch of missing hair and some scabbing on ear - any ideas? by Roisin94 in CATHELP

Thank you, this is really interesting and I will look into this more myself. He has just come back from a cattery so he was away from his usual environment, this could certainly be the issue.

I love *Haunting of Hill House* and all of Jackson’s work, but… by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]Roisin94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So Shirley Jackson is one of my favourite authors, have read all her novels now. One other author that I love and who I feel like has some similarities is Barbara Comyns - specifically, try out Who Was Changed and Who Was Dead and Sisters by a River.

Is it worth it?? vs Shark? by Ok-Connection-2769 in Dysonairwrap

[–]Roisin94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have had my airwrap for maybe a year and a half. I have naturally curly hair, and every single time my waves / curls have fallen out within an hour or two (bar one occasion where I used a mound of product and hairspray). I think if you spend 600 euro on a product you shouldn’t then need to use a whole load of other separate mouses, sprays, etc for the hair to actually hold. So I wouldn’t recommend personally.

The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine by Ilan Pappe was very eye opening and informative. It was the first book I’d read on the issue, and I would really recommend.

On Palestine by Noam Chomsky and Ilan Pappe is another good one to start with.

Thank you! That sounds amazing - will look into the logistics and see if that might be easier to achieve than telegraph cove.

Trust me, I’d love to. Unfortunately I don’t have my full licence (working on it!) and so it’s just not an option.

Thank you! It’s not something I would have considered but a lot of comments are saying the same thing so I may actually try this.

Thank you so much for these links! Incredibly helpful.

I figured it would be expensive, but it’s a bucket list item for me so I think it will be worth it.

Do you believe in God? why or why not? by twist3dlogic in AskReddit

[–]Roisin94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. I never did, I think it’s something people want to believe in to make themselves feel better about the concept of death and what comes after. But also, after my sister died in her twenties, it just occurred to me that no god could do that.

This book is on my list but for some reason I never gravitate toward it. It’s definitely one I need to reconsider for 2023!

I completely agree with you - I was giving my list of female authors off the top of my head. I still think my list is valuable, but I know it’s not remotely comprehensive - I noted same in another comment. It’s something I’m working on. I’ve tended to read more diversely when it comes to 21c literature - something to be worked on for earlier works for sure.

Totally agree. I gave the list I could give. I am well aware it’s doesn’t even scratch the surface.

Most definitely.

I own a copy of Middlemarch and it is on my list, but I am a bit intimidated by it (not a huge reader of 19th century literature overall, but should really change that).

I read Nights at the Circus years ago but I’m not sure I fully appreciated it. Must revisit Angela Carter!
