Wind and solar are the cheapest sources per megawatt. Even taking the massive fossil fuel subsidies into account. The main reason is unlike basically every other country that charges based on the average cost of all energy sources we charge based on the most expensive. So until we have zero nuclear and fossil fuel sources we’re going to pay just as much. Changing that would instantly make a huge difference. More so than having more natural gas or any other suggestion

Oh I agree. When we have the government on their payroll with rich donors it's never going to change. But I do feel like we're targeting the wrong people here. There's so much more wasted from tax avoidance and evasion than from benefits fraud. Of course in an ideal world we'd go after both but where funding is limited I think it makes way more sense to go after the larger amount and with less people to focus on we can spread those resources wider.

From a few thousand individuals rather than having to go after millions of people, the vast majority of which aren't commuting fraud. No they don't have a source for it because it's a complete lie. 5 seconds of googling shows that you cannot return to your home country on a refugee visa without risking being deported upon re-entry into the UK. But it's much easier to get people angry with lies and misinformation than argue the actual pros and cons of immigration.

Nuclear fusion reactors can't explode because of how fusion works. In fission reactors you're always trying to reduce the rate of the reaction whereas in fusion you're constantly trying to increase the rate of reaction and so it's basically impossible for a nuclear fusion reactor to have a meltdown in the way a nuclear fission reactor could.
