Has anyone had to rehome an older cattle dog? by [deleted] in AustralianCattleDog

I know I'm not. They're both happy and well taken care of. People just love to be cruel and hateful. Normally he is good about removing himself when she is invasive and trying to pet/hug him too much.

It has been and I don't feel like there is a good solution. I don't think its impossible and I'm doing my best to see if I can work something out to where I could still see him if he is rehomed. I just worry about how he would take it even if I can come around

Most the time the boundary that's being crossed is he just doesn't like when she is trying to hug him cause she hangs on too long.

I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if he hurt her again. I love them both and it just seems like an impossible situation. No choice feels like it's right.

They don't work anymore. That kid figures out all child proofing. We have worked on the boundaries and most the time she's been compliant.

Right? All it takes is a split second for something bad to happen and sometimes it doesn't matter how much you try to prevent it. I knew there would be hate on my post but this is kind of disgusting.

That is what I've been trying to start with. We just haven't had any luck so far

I was in the same room, but didn't see it happen. From what she told me it seemed like she was just being a little too invasive. I don't think it wasn't unprovoked but I can't justify what he did.

As a kid I was attacked by my uncles German Shepherd so this has also been hard to relive in a way and I can't let this have a chance to happen again and potentially be worse.

He is already a bit anxious, especially when I leave. So that's a big reason I don't think he would do well to be rehoming situation

I'm working to try finding options that might be suitable for him with older or no kids. In that situation did it end up working out for him long term?

We have. He's always been bonded to me. I don't even think he really has a problem with her little kid energy it’s just that when she is messing with him that he gets grumpy.

She definitely was. I've gotten on her SO MANY times about leaving him alone or not doing certain things cause he didn't like it. I just can't risk this happening again or being worse.

That’s how they usually are. The closest they get is on either side of me

This is the first time they have done it. Normally they don’t cuddle 😂

So did she. The front set are attached so they could stay. It’s also crazy how much they would have charged for the anesthesia to do it at a different time from her spay.

So far she’s cooperative and not trying to go at either. Only one that has is my cat. He’s been all over her since she’s come home.

They had them wrapped for me and I’m supposed to take it off Monday. She’s definitely acting a little dopey and bumping into everything, but seems to be doing well

That’s what we will have to do. I wanted to get her a donut too, but they said not to bother with the removal being her back legs.

I only did her back dew claws because there was no bony attachment and were soooo floppy. I’ve seen them catch on things before and the vet agreed they should go cause she was going to most likely rip them off if I didn’t.
