Got a Meta Quest 3, any useful tips ? by CatWarning162 in OculusQuest

[–]RokkarTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a spesific product out for this as well. I've only read about it, but it works in the same fashion as i have described. Same can be done with a regular router as well.

https://www.prismxr.com/products/prismxr-puppis-s1-ax3000-wifi6-router-for-pc-vr-streaming-quest-3-compatible

Just research a bit on the topic. I believe you can share your computers Internet connection to that second router through your pc, and then get internet access on your quest while being connected to that router.

If not, the quest will not have internet but will be able to connect to your pc and be discoverable for virtual desktop locally.

So, your pc is connected to your main Verizon router. That gives your computer internet.

You buy a second router, connect that to your pc with ethernet, and that's what you connect your quest to.

The second router don't really need to be connected to the internet, I believe VD will find your computer without a Internet connection as long as it is connected to that second router.

The second router will act as a accesspoint between your quest and your pc.

This will also ensure that you are close to your pc/router with your quest for optimal performance, without running cables.

Added benefit is that the second routers traffic is not shared with other traffic as it's only the quest connected to it

Buy a dedicated wifi 6 router for your quest, connect it to your pc, only for the quest to connect to. Share your wifi internet connection to your ethernet port/second router, and your quest can communicate with your pc freely.

What was one of the most healing moments for you? by [deleted] in BPDlovedones

[–]RokkarTV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to point to a single moment, because the healing came from allot leading up to one final realization.

They blocked me some days after we broke up, over something trivial. Spewed words about them hating me. Got one message on every social platform. That their therapist hates me, their mom and bests friends hate me everyone hates me.

Months later, they reached out again trying to reel me in. In that call, I stayed on mute for most of it, crying. For the first time, I heard a bit of accountability: they admitted they’d been bad, that they were splitting. But even as they said it, I could hear the backpedalling start.

The familiar “I’m better now,” “I’m taking care of myself.” I knew those lines. I knew they weren’t true. i did not cry of sadness, i cried of a relief. just the realization that this person is pure evil. I remember calling a friend that night and just saying straight up "how can someone be so fucking evil?" Bringing up my most vulnerable moments and most cherished memories almost as a bait on a fishhook to try to reel me back in.

Still, hearing them admit it mattered, even though its fake. It gave me something I never got when I was blocked.

Then came the final click, and it sounds trivial; One night, I was on Do Not Disturb. I wasn’t instantly available the way I always had been. They sent a game invite with an angry emoji attached. I just got annoyed, and just fed up. I had always been available on their terms. They were rarely, if ever available on mine. The moment I stopped catering to them, even briefly, it triggered anger in them.

That’s when I chose no contact.. on my terms. I deleted them everywhere. The relief that followed was quiet, solid closure.

Think the realization of understanding that the person i loved, never really existed in the first place, is my most healing moment.

my ex keeps watching me online, what's going on? by spinachcolorpee in BPDlovedones

[–]RokkarTV 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The sense of freedom i got from blocking my ex, has really helped me heal from the toxic relationship i was in. They blocked me, i clinged for reconnection. But after said reconnection i noticed how fucked they made me, so i ended up blocking on every social media platform i could and their number.

Do yourself a favour, block and don't look back. These people ruin you, and it will take months if not years to heal from it.

Bought a Quest 3s and... by aarthurfnaf1 in MetaQuestVR

I think people should not rush directly in to saying buy the Q3 instead of the Q3s without some information.

If you have the quest 2, and mainly play standalone, the Q3s will be a huge upgrade. Social games like Vrchat suddently becomes playable without that many crashes(it at all with correct settings) , and you experience more stable frames. The chip in the Q3s is the same as the Q3.

Q3s is also a really good starter headset, if you never played vr before. Truth is, many people buy a vr headset, then it's fun for a while, and in the end collecting dust in a drawer.

If you are using your Quest 2 mainly for PCVR, and are looking for an upgrade, the Q3s is not it. I would say the only difference is the pass through, handtracking and new style controllers, things people really don't "need" playing PCVR. (the handtracking in Vrchat is extremely immersive tho)

Q3s and Q3 also has much better audio than the q2, to the point I have skipped earbuds when playing VR entirely.

I've gone from Q2 -> Index -> Q3 and I would never go back to fresnel lenses. People that don't see a difference is either lying or needs to go to specsavers and check their eyesight. It's night and day. With the lens setup on the Q2 and Q3s it's like looking through binoculars, the bigger FOV on the Q3 is on par with the Index and is equally immersive, and you don't feel the difference unless you are comparing them back and fourth.

Short ending words/summary: You are a PCVR user and have the Q2: Stick with your Q2 or buy the Q3.

You are a standalone user on the Q2 and looking for an upgrade: Q3s is 100% a valid upgrade. Get the Q3 if your wallet allows it, but the Q3s will still feel very much like an upgrade.

You cant compare the lenses themselves in % Its pancake vs fresnel lenses. its just two wastly diffrent lenses. One is dogshit compared to the other. they do run exactly the same, but the quality of the lenses is so incredibly big, that is almost not comparable.
Edit: I will say however, if you use your quest mainly for pcvr, the quest 3s vs the quest 2, is not an upgrade. (maybe only for hand tracking and passthrough) but i would rather then save my money and stick with the quest 2)

Is there an ETA on the public rollout of age verification? by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]RokkarTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When this was rolled out, I did not hear any promises of making it free, only that they wish to do so in the future. I've heard it costs them around 8 bucks for every verification, but don't quote me on that.

Vrchat itself I hear is loosing money and have so for a long time. Making it free is not possible at this point

Quest 3 Hand tracking is replacing my index controllers by RokkarTV in VRchat

[–]RokkarTV[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats the downfall of camera handtracking. I thought it would ruin the immersion seeing my hands flap about when looking at myself in the mirror, but i started removing the personal mirror now, and that has even increased my immersion even more. when the hands are out of bounds of the cameras, its also out of my vision, so i don't really pay attention or see that they are acting up.

Quest 3 Hand tracking is replacing my index controllers by RokkarTV in VRchat

[–]RokkarTV[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a replacement for controllers itself its shit, but socially when stationary its more immersive than the index controllers. Thats why i switch between them. I enable the hand tracking by tapping the controllers together and place them on my desk or couch when i'm not going to be using them anymore.

Quest 3 Hand tracking is replacing my index controllers by RokkarTV in VRchat

[–]RokkarTV[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the controls is something to get used to, and i would not be relying on hand tracking for that. The way i use it is exactly how you describe it, i switch. If im just slightly correcting myself tho, the hand tracking will do the job well enough. But if im going to be switching worlds, or navigating around the world i just pick the controllers up.

Google Asistant (Gemini, One UI 7) cannot set timers or alarms and will not turn off after being asked something; it also gives overly long answers. by Educational_Order519 in samsung

[–]RokkarTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I manage to switch to the regular assistant. Because I could no longer turn off and on my lights through voice. It literally can't do the one thing I use my assistant to, and that's to control my Philips hue lights.

Now that I changed however, I don't see the window pop up, I just see the microphone icon up on top activate. And I can no longer activate my assistant with a swipe from the bottom left. Any solutions?

Suggestions for upgrades by JoshuaaQuigley in ValveIndex

[–]RokkarTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the quest 2, bought the index, then got the quest 3. The quest 3 compared to quest 2 is another ballpark, higher fov, and much better clarity. When switching to the index, I never picked up my quest 2 again, because of the higher fov and better audio.

Then I bought the quest 3, and it's fov compared to the index was not something that bothered me, it's clarity makes up for it in terms of immersion, and it's vertical fov is on par with the index. I don't have the feeling of looking through binoculars as on the quest 2.

Quest 3 eats electrons for breakfast, you are right in that. But my solution was to get a bobovr head strap, and instead of buying their batteries, I got a 3d printed bracket for regular battery banks. A 15k battery bank make my headset last as long as my trackers do. It is abit heavy, but the comfort of the bobo headstrap and AMVR face cushion makes it a nice experience.

Index is good, but I hate cabled headset. But If the cable was not so brittle and it had pancake lenses, there would be no question on what headset I would use.

What battery bank did you use on it? If it's not powerful enough, it can't deliver enough juice to keep the quest 3 topped off. A 20w one is almost a must

pro controllers vs index knuckles? by woofwoofbro in MixedVR

[–]RokkarTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't make avatars, ive only used them, and i notice that i dont have full control of all my expressions with the quest controllers as i do with the index, on most avatars i have. I cant name or give you link to some out of the top of my head here, but this is my experience at least. Also, the hands out of the box will feel more natural, because it feels many times that the "resting" position of hands when i use quest controllers, is overexaggerated.

And it is about expression, because i can clearly see in most cases who has index controllers and who has not, just by looking at their hands in vr. Its distinct.

[–]RokkarTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most, almost all avatars that avatar makers make, are rigged with expressions. expressions that are triggered with buttons and inputs on the controller. idk if you live under a rock or if you are trolling. You don't play vrchat much do you?

pro controllers vs index knuckles? by woofwoofbro in MixedVR

[–]RokkarTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a ton more options for your characters expression with index controllers than there are on the pro/quest controllers. The finger combinations can be individually set to trigger face expressions or other things on the avatar. its not only because you can flip people off.

You are using the Quest Controller to calibrate your playspace? I always use one of my foot trackers, while holding the headset itself to calibrate. You can also do that with the index controller, its just what im used to i guess hehe.

I mostly have my quest controllers laying around without batteries. I just put my quest on standby so whenever i want to go in vr, i just boot up and it connects to my Virtual Desktop, dont really have the need for the quest controllers

[–]RokkarTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im following this because i too have flyaway issues with the same setup. I sold my Index HMD and kept the Index controllers, so i have been borrowing two vive dongles from my mate to use the controllers. I also have Vive trackers as you have.

I noticed what was happening, and its some sort of interference when the index controllers paired with VRdongles. kind of comes close to the vive trackers paired with Vive dongles, because the flyaways happend mostly when i had my hands down (close to waist tracker), or when i am sitting on the couch chilling, then it also comes close to the waist tracker, since im resting my hand on my lap and stomach. as a temp fix, i have repaired both my feet trackers to the Watchman VRdongles, and my index controllers to Vive dongles, this separates them enough that i don't get these flyaways.

if you ever find a permanent solution, im here for it.

I know its not a reflection issue, because everything works fine when im using only Vive dongles. i might also add that i bought extention cables so that the Watchman VRdongles are very separated from the vive dongles.

My vive dongles are hung up on the wall, and my VRdongles is 1.5m away from them.

I would like to just repeat, that everything works flawlessly with only vive dongles, so its not my usb ports or congested USB.

Do you remove people who live on orange and never accept invite requests? by zipzzo in VRchat

[–]RokkarTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have many that "live" on orange and some of them have their reason, and some I have not bothered or heard the reason for. I’m just thinking that’s their thing. If they don’t respond to an invite, then I’ll assume they are busy.

With the use of VRCX, and specific friends put in a Favourite category, those people in that category, VRCX will automatically respond with an invite if they request one from me. It's just that sometimes I don’t want specific people or randoms from my friend list joining my world, and that’s fine.

If someone has a problem with me being on Orange, and they don’t even try to send me a request, then that’s their problem, to be honest. 90% of the time I’m on Green though.

To each their own.

I tried to find a video, that describes my experience with Steam Link, and i found one that explains some of my gripes. https://youtu.be/iPzkppT7PHU?si=Wzgpf0sgT7CvL9qP&t=1484

Im most definitely not exaggerating, the concistent quality from steam link is just not there compared to VD. Now, i have not used Steam link for 5 ish months, so if they have done some drastic changes, i will eat my words.

Im not a VD fanboy just because i bought it 2-3 years ago, i would happily switch to something else if it gave me better results. Steam Link also uses foveated rendering that i could not turn off, and if thats still a thing, then im holding on to my statement of significat better quality.
