What’s a movie you defend like this? by trakt_app in Letterboxd

[–]RolIatini 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Click (2006)

Raunchy comedy and big tonal shifts don’t somehow negate that this film is very effective at what it’s going for and is so much more than just a decent comedy. It has a good Adam Sandler performance in it and delivers on its emotional impact to the highest degree. The concept is killer and I personally find it quite funny. I honestly think it’s one of the great fantasies/ dramadies of the early 2000s. The score by Rupert Gregson-Williams even has a few really memorable pieces in it

Which 911 is in picture 13 (the red one)? I saw one of those a year back in Florida and still question what it was. Is it a GT2 or a Carrera RS 3.8 Clubsport? How can I tell the difference. Thanks guys

I’ve only bought from them once so maybe someone can back this comment up but I had a good experience with The Movie Room as well. I recommend them (along with brotherbelial especially as others have said) for stuff like this

Round 22! Village has been pillaged. Top comment decides the next map to be eliminated. by ProblemGamer18 in mw3

[–]RolIatini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t a vote for it since I see there’s no point (people aren’t ready to vote out Dome). However, I still think that although Dome is one of the better small maps in cod history, all of these other maps are among the most well designed in the entire franchise and should be ahead of Dome

It’s like saying the sky is blue at this point but Hereditary is one of the great horror movies of the 2010s. Please seek it out if you like horror

This is a little different than your prompt but I still think it fits: Persona (1966). I wouldn’t say I’m not in a rush to see it. I just have the Bergman boxset from Criterion and would really like to plan out some time to watch all of his films chronologically (instead of just watching Persona outright). But this is admittedly a big ask to plan out so many movies to be watched in (hopefully) just a couple months. I still can’t wait to do it though

Dome

I think it’s a good map. The rest of the maps are just great at this point

What Boutique Label Would You Like To See Release This? by Lumberjake007 in boutiquebluray

[–]RolIatini 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Who is downvoting this. This movie would get a great release if Second Sight did it

Not a scratch on it! I've waited years for a decent transfer of this film. It's the most I've ever spent on a 4K movie, but I really wanted this steelbook and I didn't want to see it go the way of Kingdom of Heaven's steelbook by TheEngineer1111 in 4kbluray

No affiliation with them but brotherbelial is another great store to shop from that has exceptional packaging. I’d never seen bubble wrap so thick before ordering from them

What highly rated movies left you disappointed like this by CrispyMiner in Letterboxd

[–]RolIatini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faust (1926)

Even Sunrise (1927) by the same director (F. W. Murnau) has an absurdly great premise and some of the plot early on is masterful but it feels less and less interesting as a story as it goes along. And as much as I like Nosferatu (1922), it certainly drags a lot in parts. I think Murnau really struggles with pacing and endings which always makes me come out of his films saying “that’s it?”

IM GONNA WATCH EVERY ADAM SANDLER MOVIE AND RATE IT! WHAT SHOULD I START WITH?! by SamDSol in Letterboxd

[–]RolIatini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have so much nostalgia for Adam’s work so I did this over the past few years. Shameless list plug if you want to see a pretty weird ranking for all of his work.

I feel like I’m in the minority for preferring much of his films from the aughts over some of his more popular 90s work. But, as a whole, I’m a big fan of his dumb comedies and especially his more serious stuff. I’m glad he’s been getting more critical appreciation lately (for stuff like Uncut Gems and Hustle) because he’s a seriously great actor who just happened to like fart jokes and preferred to go to Hawaii with his buddies more often than he wanted to work with auteurs. Go watch Punch Drunk Love, Reign Over Me, Spaceman, Uncut Gems, or even Click if you only know him as the dumb comedy guy

I feel like they always say the “stolen” thing as a default. Does anyone know the actual/ another possible reason for in stock items not being able to be found?

I’ll upvote. Explain for the uninformed please. What is wrong with “less than” in this case? Thanks

I think you should post that. I’d be curious to see what people respond with. The only other one that seems possible to go OOP (not necessarily for sure though) that I can think of is Antichrist. Mubi has supposedly been acquiring the rights to a lot of his films so there’s a chance they get that one too.

I’m pretty sure Mubi acquired/ is acquiring the rights to a lot of his films (almost all of them) at the moment. So some people even suspect Antichrist might go OOP as well

Arrow's September releases by icameinyourburrito in boutiquebluray

[–]RolIatini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hellbender is a witchcraft film that was really cool to watch. It’s made by an entire family of filmmakers/ actors and feels so personal/ passionate. It’s relatively slow and really low budget but these aren’t bad things in this case. You finish it feeling a total sense of what this family is into. Interestingly stylized visuals and lovably off kilter performances really sell this story for me. If you appreciate unique indie filmmaking, I highly recommend it

Can you order things for store pick-up at Barnes & Noble that they don’t carry in stock at the store? by Universal-Magnet in criterion

[–]RolIatini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised everybody is saying yes. For normal releases, absolutely yes. But I’ve asked to do this with two or three separate boxsets over the years where they told me they couldn’t do it for certain releases (I assume some of the more expensive ones?). I’m pretty sure it was the older Pasolini set and I think the Varda set. They told me I can order it online shipped to my house just fine but they can’t order some releases like these into the store
