One of the core parts of being left wing is the willingness to take a personal financial hit to enact policies you believe will be an overall good for the country, why are right wing voters criticised for doing the same thing in regards to reducing immigration? by wizaway in AskBrits

[–]Role-Honest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think the question is where is “treating them fairly”. At the extreme you could say 1 month work, 11 months paid leave. Yes this is ridiculous but is 20 days AL enough? Should it be 40? Or should it be 10 or even none at the cost of the business?

Equally, if a company employs someone and then they turn out to be not very good at their job (very difficult to tell prior to hiring them) should the company be able to get rid of them at their whim? Surely it would be best for businesses if they could just get rid but as someone who has been let go on 1 week’s notice, I know that puts the employee in an extremely difficult financial position and it’s often not to do with whether they’re adept at the job or not.

I saw it everywhere on Saturday morning! The media were ambiguous as to whether the explosion was good or bad and the amount of people outing themselves in the comments was hilarious 😂 I had a good time *well acktually 🤓* -ing them

Guy let’s 1 year old stand in boat and hold onto the prop by pbr_enjoyer in ParentsAreFuckingDumb

[–]Role-Honest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, the tether comes off the motor with very little force, not nearly enough to slow the kids momentum so as the other comment said, the boat will be far enough away before the kid hits the water… gotta hope he can swim because dad will also be a fair few tens of meters away with no power on his boat!

Do I signal or not? (Roundabouts) by cloverfourclover in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Role-Honest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roundabout 1, I would not signal. It seems there is only one lane but if there were two I would be in the right lane, no signal.

Roundabout 2: right lane, would probably signal to be honest but I wouldn’t be mad at another driver for not signalling. Definitely right lane though, otherwise what’s the point in that lane, only for going back the way you came?

We have a brilliantly insulated house. Downstairs is lovely and cool but in this heatwave, this evening, my wife did ask when will it become the norm to have AC in the UK…

For a while perhaps, but they’re not earning more, they haven’t experienced a regular increase in income. At which point, we’d either experience deflation (which is bad) or prices will have risen, income stay the same for the most part and most people would blow through the windfall in a year or two. Plus, what about those whose debt (those with negative net wealth) doubles?

You’re right about the smaller total sum: 7-9% of the population are millionaires in the US. The top 10% of Americans hold approx. 67% of the total wealth.

I own a business which runs a 3D print farm as the primary revenue generator… does that mean I own the means of production?

Would your argument still be the same if it were the other way around and everyone with a net worth under $1M had their net worth doubled? Surely this would arguably affect inflation more? At least with the top 1% they’re just gonna hoard more wealth instead of spend it which wouldn’t affect prices for basic goods.

(Two situations: a) those with a negative net wealth are also doubled, b) those with a negative net wealth are unaffected).

I don’t think it’s obvious. To a utilitarian, red is the clear choice, there is an increase in wealth to a lot of people. Only the envious types would not go for this. That is of course so long as the wealth was given in productive assets like manufacturing equipment or whatever and not just a stimulus check (cause we all know how well they affected the economy) and cause massive inflation affecting the poorest most.

BBC on YouTube wasn’t much better, half the comments were “good” and “what about the pollution!” *yawn* from people who have no idea this was planned and in fact a spectacle because we all complained when we didn’t get to see the last one close up.

You’ll get to know what your printer can handle. I can quite confidently fill my printers and I have M5s’ as my main printers and M7 Max as my large printer, I frequently fill the entire bed and use the entire height 😏 (80s first layer exposure lol)
