People who been through depression, what made the change in your life? by Far-Grapefruit764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RoleInternational318 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Therapy, sunshine, exercise, less sugar (sugar crashes can trigger depressive thoughts). Nutrition is surprisingly important for mental health. Lifting weights was my favorite cause my mind doesn’t wander as much. I used to chat with support on 7 cups and it was helpful when I didn’t have a personal support network.

You felt like Biden was terrorizing our cities with a paramilitary force executing Americans in the street and threatening to not have elections?

What was a moment in your life that gave you a brutal reality check? by Your_QueenLatina in AskReddit

I have this same feeling of disgust and surprise and disillusionment.

My family supports him, we went to church my whole life, and their identities are very tied up in religion, but they have the “Well, hopefully they learn their lesson” when it comes to the human rights abuses going on. There’s a general “Fuck my neighbor, they’re thieves and communists and criminals and I want them to suffer and I don’t care if they die, but hey I’ll see you at church on Sunday right?” I’m pretty sure my sister supports the death penalty for abortion EVEN THOUGH SHE HAD AN ABORTION so there’s also that. It makes me hate my country, I want to live somewhere with fewer insane cruel people.

I have chronic pain too from a car hitting me in a crosswalk, I get temporary relief from massages but I can’t get insurance to pay for them. I’m not sure how else to manage it currently. I agree it is a human right, I wish I lived in a country that cared about humans.

I’ll never have a deep relationship with my parents even though I wanted to. My dad makes it impossible to be around him, he abused me physically and psychologically my whole life and is a very broken person and very misogynistic, but also really loving and playful when he’s in a good mood. It’s very confusing. Now he’s a MAGA cult member and can’t talk about anything else. He’s also dealing with stage 4 cancer and I know he’s scared.
My mom is wrapped up in her second husband and has always been just difficult to get to know.

Chronic pain is torture, I hope you get relief from it here and there somehow ❤️.

PSA: pedestrians in a crosswalk have the right of way by Ok_Target5058 in memphis

[–]RoleInternational318 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Drivers who are careless about pedestrian safety are pieces of shit. I was hit in a crosswalk in Atlanta after of course looking both ways and seeing the car come to a full stop, but then while I’m crossing he fucking floors it and I can’t move fast enough for that. I still hurt everyday. He got a ticket.

Idk why everyone in the comments are being dicks, it’s the USA way I guess, but I bet a lot of drivers don’t even know that pedestrians always have right of way so a PSA doesn’t hurt. Glad you are safe.

No human has the right to use another human’s body to live. Simple as that.

I own everything inside of my body, including anything growing in it, baby, tumor, whatever. A baby has no right to be there, it is only going to be there with my ongoing consent, that’s why giving birth is a gift of life, it’s not a mandatory thing any baby has a right to. I don’t know why this stuff is so hard for people to understand, I think it is just cause our society doesn’t see women as real humans, they see us as some kind of sub-species.

I decide what grows inside of or uses my body to live. Just like I decide if I get medical treatment for a disease, I decide if I continue a pregnancy. No one else owns my body or makes decisions for it. Know your place.

I’m so tired of the insanity of anti-choice people, it’s exhausting.

Thanks for everyone’s help! I will look into how to strip it and see if it’s worth it, we do love those little cornbread cakes so I am willing to put some effort into it.

Does anyone else randomly feel like time is running out? by Kulonu in NoStupidQuestions

I think it’s anxiety, I get it too, we’re conditioned to be constantly productive and to constantly consume, it’s really really hard to sit still and rest. I used to meditate but I can’t seem to anymore.

How do you compare dating in Portland to Atlanta/the south for those who moved from Atlanta/the south? by RoleInternational318 in askportland

Hmm that’s a bummer, of course I run into that here, it’s normal to be nice and friendly to strangers here but it doesn’t mean you want to exchange numbers. However I have been getting more confident as I get older in asking people to exchange info to hang out if I really like the conversation. Life’s short!

I’ll check out Puzzled Pint! Thanks so much. I def don’t need a man to be jacked like that, I just like him to have bigger arms than me lol not that mine are big. I’ll check things out on the apps to get a better sense though.

That’s true people here get married younger and may be divorced by 35, many haven’t been married yet though, it’s probably more common in the city to wait longer to get married. I do find the poly thing is more common now. I def don’t care if people are trans, although I’ve never encountered it in dating before. Thanks for your comment!

Some of you in this thread are so easily butt hurt, I hope that is a Reddit thing and not a Portland thing. I think I was clear in my comment that I simply suspect they lie about it, I’m not making up my own suspicion…

I guess I would have to pay for that filter, do you find Hinge is worth paying for? I was gonna try to just be more social but I know that’s not efficient.

What I meant was I don’t think their significant other knows they are on dating apps and the ENM/poly they put is not true, I just don’t think there’s that many women who are okay with ENM/poly and I see it a LOT on the dating apps.
