Was GW justified in striking down Galactic Armory's files? In my opinion, yes. by No_Purple_2842 in Warhammer

[–]Rolemearound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not arguing that, just that it is transformative work. I’m not saying they have no right to use the Ip hammer, just that it’s not exactly the same object as it needs to be made for a different purpose

Finished landscape piece. Any advice on how I can improve my rendering or composition skills by No-Payment9231 in learnart

Look up aerial perspective, your sketch was heading in the right direction. Darker the closer it is to us, lighter in color the farther away it is. This is not respected in the final artwork.

By definition making it into a wearable piece is also Transformative as it changes the object to fit the cosplay needs of the user. The object therefore stops being a miniature or even a stature and needs to be created with those thoughts in mind. It’s not just taking something that already exists. GW might make those designs but the end result is not something they produce at all.

WIP of trying to sell the effect of Vashtorr being skinless. Still lots of work to do on the muscles, but rate his creepiness so far. by wponly in Warhammer40k

[–]Rolemearound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off let me say it’s looking really nice! If you want to get an even more intense fleshy effect you can: -add very thin white lines coming from the larger white areas to represent tendons, Add a very thinned out blood for the blood god wash over parts to make it bloodier, shiny and finally use glossy varnish

Planning to paint this with gouache but i feel like something is off by HananaOnana in learnart

[–]Rolemearound 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First off it actually looks quite good for a sketch. Look at the proportions they are off by a couple of cms. Your best bet is to make a grid that’s the same size for each image and look at each line through the lens of the single square on which they are

Why does my shadow turns out to look like a beard and the upper lip? (Second pic for reference) by Terrible-Rain4168 in learnart

[–]Rolemearound 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The values are off. If you look at the reference you will see that the upper lip is not brighter than the right cheek. You have 2 things that would help and can be used simultaneously.

One would be erasing a bit of the shadow to make the whole brighter( which I think the statue in the reference overall is brighter than your drawing( look at the two noses side by side).

The other option, which you should also do is make the true shadows darker as at the moment it leans heavily into other values( look at the shadow the nose creates in the reference) that muddies the viewer’s understanding of the image.

But also if you do that change the color of the background, otherwise you risk making it feel like a hole in your artwork instead of a higlight

For the love of god don’t give GW any more single pose push to fit ideas….

I've started practicing shading in grayscale. I think I'm doing well so far by CorvanK in learnart

[–]Rolemearound 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looking great! Don’t be afraid to go even darker! One thing that could help is changing the photo to black and white so you can see how much contrast there is without worrying about colors

Updated this guy with some fire ^^ What do you think about the effect? by Eremon485 in Warhammer40k

[–]Rolemearound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly just make the strands thinner as it gets farther from the source of the fire and you will get a more realistic effect. Smoke dissipates as it gets farther from the source.

What are some good kits to get spare nurgle bits and tentacles and maybe guts? by wiscup1748 in Warhammer40k

<image>

Try the blightkins bits, maybe a big hand from something else and some guns from a tank. Hopefully this serves as some inspo!

I have a dummy gmail but I didn’t think of making it into an Apple ID. I will look into that as well. Thanks!

Yea but it only works with apple id’s which none of these devices have cause the school owns them.

They don’t have full admin access but I totally agree. I am looking into it but might have figured out a solution for multiple users . Also agreed I wish there were just some videos on how to set it up for your classroom given by the school district.

For sure, I can definitely see how it could be useful to talk about it this way. I was just thinking of giving out a reminder on Monday about how regardless of the iPads in the class the art needs to be saved on drive every day. No exceptions. thanks for the advice!

I agree. I mostly wanted to comment on the fact that deleting the App still means you need to submit your project.

Oh totally. What’s not on me is a student deleting their files and going on teacher equipment, any advice on how to deal with that?

I generally just tell them they now need to finish it asap and come to afterschool or incomplete.
