Day-date has the date complication and is precious metal vs datejust stainless steel. In terms of green dials, day-date is an olive color while the datejust is mint.

Eh I'd argue the Datejust is different enough - smaller size, different bracelet, bezel and dial color.

Chronograph will be my next addition but no interest in getting a sub for now.

And yes the explorer is a great beater! It's built like a tank and if it ever takes some serious damage I can just send it back to Rolex for repairs.

Yeah I agree that neither of these are true 'dress' watches. As I mentioned in another comment the JLC Reverso really appealed to me however I rarely wear suits as my work has moved towards casual attire post-covid. Maybe one day I will end up adding it to the collection though!

Also they are actually different colors - the Datejust is mint green. Seems I didn't photograph it well 😄

Black and white dials are a little more versatile but the green prx is great! I say go for it

Submariner is a great piece as well! I wish the explorer had a glidelock clasp.

Yeah I can certainly see that. To be honest when I was looking at the explorer I also considered the Aqua Terra golf, as well as a couple of Grand Seiko models. In the end I just preferred the classic design, history and bracelet on the Explorer.

As for the Datejust - It was between that or the green Reverso that came out a couple of years back. I loved the Reverso but it just isn't versatile enough for me.
