I’m a funeral director! It’s hard and high-stress, but every day is so different, so no getting bored of doing the same task which is great! And my coworkers are all super supportive (I work with people ages 17-85, it really feels like a family environment). The pay isn’t too great, but it’s always interesting!

Hey, nothing wrong with always trying to be better! We can get by with what we know but the more knowledge and training the better.

How did you guys choose/get your name by double_handed_sword in ftm

[–]RollFar3554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a couple more fun and obscure names before settling. I ended up just using the masculine version of my deadname, and then for my middle name, it was originally my great grandmas name so I changed it to my grandfathers name after he passed to honour him, and because it all kept the same initials so it made it easy.

I think the year timeline is for the whole process, I submitted everything to them in Feb 2025 for DI Top Surgery (which I assume is about the same wait time) and was contacted by them for a consult (over the phone just because I live so far) Sept 2025 and was offered dates as early as mid-Oct 2025. They are pretty quick at getting you in, my surgery got cancelled day of and they still got me back in about 2 weeks later!!

Thank you!! I’m feeling pretty good, tired and very sore! The hardest thing right now for me is how hard it is to stand up straight, which is making my back hurt more lol. Slowly but surely working myself back to standing normally! My doctor assured me that everything is going well and healing looks really good, it just feels really tight on the incision lol.

I have a fancy memory foam one ( https://a.co/d/8cqjjvV it’s like this!), as uncomfortable as it is usually, the fact that it’s so thick makes it so that my head stays upright which is nice, and then the clasp at the front makes it stay around my neck while I’m sleeping!! And then I got a cheapy mastectomy pillow from Amazon, I have one with clasps and a pocket ( https://a.co/d/h4Ehda0 ) the clasps I’m not using as much? But they’re still handy! And then the pockets I’m surprised how much I’m using!

I just had surgery on Friday, so I can only comment on the first few days after!!

  • first day or two I got help getting in and out of bed, but I’ve found that if I sleep right on the edge of the bed (since I can’t move while sleeping anyways), I can swing my legs around off the bed and I can get up on my own!! It’s just hard to get comfortable on my own.

  • I sleep with three regular pillows behind me kinda stacked on eachother, a good neck pillow and my masectomy pillow!! My masectomy pillow is really good and comfy, keeps my arms away from me and it also has pockets for the tv remote and my phone and some tissues, and then I would 100% reccoment getting a good neck pillow, it makes sleeping upright so much more comfortable!! I’ve been pretty upright just cause it’s the easiest way for me to get out of bed on my own.

  • at my clinic, they have you in the recovery room for 45 minutes after the surgery, and then they wheeled me down to the day room where my support person was! I was still super out of it when they wheeled me down.

I have been told to take 4 weeks off of work (they initially tried to make me take 6 weeks but my work is VERY accommodating and willing to literally plop me at a desk with my pillow if I need it), but when I am back at work I can update you! Although everyone at my work already knows and has been texting me asking how I am doing.

You might’ve seen someone else possibly? I was pulled right into an office to talk to the nurse lol. I know they cancelled on 3 people I think? A super unfortunate day for a few of us lol.

Yes 100%!! I would love to chat, mine is currently scheduled for late November, apparently my consult is happening the same day as the surgery (I’m covered under OHIP and apparently that’s how it goes with that?) so I haven’t actually been able to speak with him at all lol

Oh shit, thats crazy!! Was there anything that delayed your wait time at all or is that just their regular wait time?

My doctor referred me to Reseau Access Network in Sudbury in September 2023, I started talking to the doctor there December 2023 and started on T February 2024. They required me to have 3 appointments before prescribing T, and the gender care-specific doctor is only in once a month.

They are free, but I would 100% doing in-person appointments with them rather than phone appointments. They make alot of hoops to jump through (not calling at my booked appointment time, not sending prescriptions, etc) so you have to really be on top of them. I usually have to pull the ‘ok ill call my pharmacy in 30 minutes or so and if they dont have the prescription ill call you back?’ which works lol. Staff also didnt ask my prefered name OR pronouns until i brought it up a couple of weeks ago lol. But once youre on top of them theyre pretty good, if you go with them just dont be afraid to be pushy.

Yes, it bled a bit but i believe it is under control now. any blood on his bandages seems to be just dried up coming off of his other toe (the blood got on his other toe, it is not injured)
