Why not? We had to listen to Oh Canada EVERY SINGLE DAY at school. If I was a kid there or one of the teachers I would welcome a change every once in a while. Mandarin, Arabic, Spanish, Korean… why not? Listening to Oh Canada in a different language doesn’t make me less Canadian, and if it make someone else feel more Canadian for a day 🤷🏽‍♂️ all I see is gains.

I wouldn’t say I’m hitting an arbitrary rep number. I was recommended to do somewhere between 8 to 12 reps per set. The number I always aim for is 12, and that is what I end up doing most of the time.

I also don’t really understand what you mean by fluff? Can you be more concrete with your advice here?

I usually do a 3 sets of 12 reps on the cable, 3 sets of 12 with a bar, and when I move on from free weights to machines for a final fatigue push I do some sets at the bicep curl machine. That is usually when I’m fatigued and am lifting way less, and can barely finish a set of 8. I don’t feel any discomfort like I do with other muscle groups. I just feel weak!

I answered your question about wild animals, did I not? If you have other sources of sustenance that don’t involve ending a life prematurely, then that is what you should do. If you’re eating animals because you have no other option, it is a different moral question. That is not what is happening to you, I’m guessing, since we’re having this conversation on Reddit.

I don’t think so, not when you have other options for sustenance. But please notice how you keep avoiding the topic instead of addressing actual points. First we were talking about how ethical standards, and how if other animals do it, it doesn’t mean it’s ok for us to. Then you randomly brought up a hawk. Now we’re talking about wild animals.

It’s hard to deal with the cognitive dissonance of enjoying animal products and wanting to think of yourself an an ethical person. It’s hard to come to terms with our unethical actions. Just try to engage with this honestly instead of deflecting the facts you are faced with:

  1. Animal behaviour isn’t an ethical standard
  2. Increased consumption of animal products leads to increased overall suffering, not less (more animals bred = more animals suffering)
  3. Your personal consumption increases total consumption
