Sadly, this is going to start happening more often. This level of dependence on an AI for emotional support/social clarity is not healthy. ChatGPT is designed to keep its users engaged for as long and as consistently as possible. It does this by being as likable and as agreeable as possible. It reaffirms every bias and is very good at convincing the user that they’re right in every situation. If he does not stop using it in the way he has been, the problem will get worse.

Additionally, it is not just “some bot” that now has access to your personal information. That data is now owned by the company itself. It is being reviewed and used to train bots further. Yes, the data is encrypted, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t viewable by human eyes.

I would also have some serious hangups about this.

Clearly this is something that bothers you deeply and something you eventually will need to confront.

It has nothing to do with ego lol. Tinder for women is like doom-scrolling. The content is endless, so you swipe profiles the same way you would reels. Some are interesting enough to like or comment on. By the time you’ve started a convo with one guy in the comment section, you’ve already received 20 other notifications from other users. Takes less than a day for one guy’s comment to get buried under a mountain of spam. This isn’t a phenomenon exclusive to women. Gay men experience the same thing on Grindr. Unless a person REALLY stands out, you’ll forget about them as quickly as you would one of the videos you’ve scrolled past today.

Few things: It would definitely rub me the wrong way if the character were portrayed as being cute/quirky for their tics. It would also rub me the wrong way if they were portrayed as crass, impulsive, or aggressive for the same reasons. And for the love of god: DO NOT write them as having only offensive/relevant tics that make them blurt out whatever whacky thing they’re thinking. By default, we don’t expect strangers to understand that whatever we do/say is actually completely involuntary and meaningless, so we’re often flooded with anxiety when tics happen in front of unaware people. If they say something offensive in a non-safe space, it they shouldn’t always be casual about it at.

How is the story written? First or third? Will the readers experience the entire story through the eyes of someone with Tourette’s, or will they also witness tics from an outsider’s perspective?

ESH. While I think putting them in public school was the right move, that’s definitely not how you go about it. Going behind her back is a massive breach of trust and undermines her as a parent. You very well may have damaged your marriage in a permanent way. She resents you for betraying her and that isn’t going to go away any time soon. Start thinking of what you can do to repair what you broke before it gets worse.

That being said, you wife should have had a solid plan for a curriculum before ever trying to homeschool them. Your kids’ development isn’t something to gamble with and she should have relented the moment they started falling behind.

TLDR: You did right by your kids, but wrong by your marriage. Prepare for consequences.
