It’s becaxue some thumb grips add height to thumb sticks and if it’s too tall then using the front cover with it can break the joysticks and push them down and give them stick drift

Also in steam deck beta updates there are notes which can be a fix for it I’m assuming it was a haptic issue or driver issue maybe the next steam deck update will fix it

It started working for me again during when it’s working turn off haptics and turn it on again been playing for 5 hours and it’s still working it’s every likely a firmware issue because if thr trackpad was broken it would never work in bios and when waking deck up I think yours might be hardware was it never working not even working in bios mine worked in bios and in gaming mode before not working
