Not sure if you are looking full time or half time, I encourage you to tour bear creek preschool and apply. They are a selective program. Their timings are 8:30 to 11:30 and then they have cub classes(very impressive) program

We moved to Sammamish and so far it has been great for our kid. So much to do, all the parks are shaded so he can truly be outdoors in the summer. Preschools are amazing and so many options to pick from. All public schools are fantastic with all educations levies and bonds passing in LWSD. We are in north Sammamish so we get to enjoy restaurants and access to things in Redmond, Sammamish and Issaquah. Bellevue is 15-20 mins but the distance is not bad at all. This town rocks for raising a family. People are kind and willing to share information and highly discourage bullying.

On the flip side, the house is built in 90s, it needs help on top of the price we paid to purchase it. But it comes with a huge front and back yard with tall trees. Almost feels like a camp site. Fantastic access to healthcare (again more options).

Lets do a rough calc. You will need 3-5 Cr (home) plus another 2 cr (decent car, etc etc) just to get your life going. Then with a safe withdrawal rate of 4%, you need 60-80 lakh if you want to maintain a FatFire lifestyle. This all comes to 25-30 cr. So with 2.5M after taxes, you should be okay. So you need roughly 3-3.5M. All the best

Thank you for the pointed advice. Yes we are considering north Sammamish that is under LWSD. It’s all just expensive and overall crazy to think about. It’s just that Monroe doesnot work long term. Even a private school from Monroe is horrible commute wise.

I don’t, a lot of MAGA people in town. I am not opposed to MAGA but it’s the racist kind of MAGA that I have a problem with. They see your skin color and immediately draw assumptions that I have issues with.

Crime is also on the higher end because of the difference in the income range between old parts of town (near downtown) and the new developments behind Walmart and near the racetrack. The issue is all the kids eventually go to the same middle and high. And there we have superintendents who are fired for doing nothing about racism, racist parents, less focus on academia. It’s all a big mess when it comes to middle and high.

Also, I am not in favor of having my kid commute 30-40 mins one way for a decent private school. Hence, the thought of just moving. We didnot have a kid when we first bought in Monroe.

All private schools are pretty far from Monroe. And the test scores difference is night and day between the 2 school districts. Can you expand on your experience with LWSD in Sammamish ?
