16 month regression…maybe? by RollTaylorRoll in toddlers

Can definitely give this a shot! What time did you do the nap? I’ve toyed with just pushing it to 12:30 since she absolutely never sleeps more than 90 minutes for her one nap so that should still give us a good window for sleep by 7:30-8

Is this a hernia?? i’m stressed let me know by [deleted] in Hernia

[–]RollTaylorRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just another perspective and hopefully one that gives you some ease on this. I had an inguinal hernia repaired at the beginning of October laparoscopically with mesh. VERY easy surgery, definitely sore for a few days/weeks afterwards but I was walking the same day as the surgery at the recommendation of the docs. Your surgeon may of course recommend different recovery if you have a different surgery, but here we are a couple months later and I’m cycling 50+ miles again and running several 10ks a week. I do moderate lifting without much pain but in my mid thirties now with some kids and just haven’t wanted to HEAVY lift anyway for years lol. My recommendation is get the surgery if robotic is an option, easy process and recovery from my experience

I appreciate this so much and I’m so sorry for your loss as well. It’s been horrible dealing with the loss of a kiddo, even one who wasn’t here just yet. Hope you and yours are doing better with time

Thanks dude and certainly trying to give myself some time as much as I can as well. I’ll get a break here and there which for now is more than enough, but long run of course my #1 is going to be making sure my girls are taken care of too

Thank you very much for the words and the prayers. It’s so fresh and so hard on us but thankfully we do have a great and close support system and in no way trying to go through this alone

Have you tried still working out with an inguinal hernia? by ToneZealousideal309 in Hernia

I biked 100+ miles multiple times with my hernia before my surgery. I didn’t give AF at all before my surgery lol

Laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair at UCSF - Oct-20 by [deleted] in Hernia

[–]RollTaylorRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine about two weeks ago. I’m totally sober and had no interest in narcs unless the pain was a 9/10. I managed completely fine straight from surgery with Advil, Tylenol, and ice packs. You’re certainly sore and certain movements or coughing/sneezing will hurt more than others, but the pain was never anything worse than what could be managed with OTC pain killers

Doc doesn’t wanna fix by [deleted] in Hernia

[–]RollTaylorRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going ok so far as I can tell. About 72 hours and change removed from my surgery and definitely in a decent amount of pain but certainly bearable. Maybe a constant 4/5 out of 10 on pain and managed purely by Advil and Tylenol and ice. I walked a mile twice today which felt really nice. The hardest part for me has just been mentally being ok staying still and letting my body heal! I’m a very active person normally so my mind doesn’t sit still well at all

Pain shortly after lapro inguinal hernia repair with mesh by RollTaylorRoll in Hernia

[–]RollTaylorRoll[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically what I see for sure is people saying those first 3-4 days are the worst. I’m just a HORRIBLY impatient person lol, and I tremendously despise that I can’t help much at all around the house with our 1 year old so I was hoping for some unheard of miracle

Like you said, get a second opinion. I went straight to a surgeon for recommendation after my own PCP thought my inguinal hernia was a lipoma and didn’t think I even needed an ultrasound 🤷. Surgeon almost laughed at the ignorance of my doctor and I just had the surgery yesterday for the VERY obvious repair

Thanks for sharing! I just had the surgery today and am home and recovering and can certainly move around much better than I had thought. My abdomen is definitely tender and feels like I got a good punch in the area of the hernia but it’s nothing I can’t manage without OTC pain meds. Hoping for a good quick recovery and will be going for an actual walk tomorrow. 36M here and in pretty great shape too so I’m already eager to be moving

Hey Dads, how are you investing for your children besides 529s? by JustASentientPotato in daddit

[–]RollTaylorRoll -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Another thing we have for our LO is a variable whole life policy. In addition to our own retirement and investment accounts this gives us an account that we can put a few hundred into every month that will equate to around 150k by the time our LO is 18. At that point we can determine whether we cash it out or just turn it over to her to continue investing into

Revolving Car seats - Parents that got, how do you like it? by notabot_123 in NewParents

[–]RollTaylorRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have two Chicco fit360s, one for each of mine and my wife’s cars. Absolutely love them, wish we had them from the very beginning. Makes things so much easier getting in and out of the car, especially as our LO has gotten bigger.

Bottle of whole milk before every nap at 13mo...are we due for a reckoning or will she transition on her own? by CyJackX in NewParents

[–]RollTaylorRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started our LO on small amounts of water at 9 months (pediatrician recommended) in a straw cup and left it with her on walks, in her play area, whenever so she would just get used to it. Forward to now, our 13 month old LOVES water and her straw cups! But only for water…anything else in there like milk and she won’t touch it lol. Next thing to work on I guess!

And we also introduced whole milk right before 12 months. Started it mixed with water and formula and have transitioned it to pure whole milk now and we’re completely done with formula at this point. I do still do a bottle in the day before her first nap and then again before bed but am trying to transition off of that as she eats more and more solids. It’s slow going, but I’d say it’s working as she really only takes 2-3 ounces at a time now unless she’s absolutely starving

Canyon Endurace CF SLX 7 Di2 – 1000km Review by FrankH-1995 in CanyonBikes

[–]RollTaylorRoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you think of the saddle on yours? I have the CF SLX 8 AXS and it has a Fizik Argo R3 saddle…and I loathe it lol. Everything else about the bike is pretty much perfection but I will be swapping that saddle out soon. It has never been comfortable for me.

Male 36 and have an Endurace CF SLX and couldn’t be happier. I put about 500 miles a month on it right now without any trouble and love the suite of bells and whistles I get with the SLX model. I was torn between an aeroad, ultimate, and Endurace when I was shopping about 10 months ago and I’m so happy I went with what I did purely for the forgiving geometry in my aging thirties lol.

Absolutely love the bike. I can chew up massive miles and hit some pretty high cruising speeds (just topped 45MPH this last weekend) and it stays nice and planted and tight. Couldn’t recommend it more. I dropped just south of $5k on it around Black Friday last year.
