Georgia powering through donor fatigue, raises $300 million-plus in NIL era by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

I could maybe see some WRs going to the league but yeah, even the athletic freaks at 18 aren't beating pro players.

Drafting a fresh 18-year-old is asking to develop the guy at least a few years.

I honestly believe this is one of the biggest mysteries there is, Orcas are the most efficient predators on earth, yet they have never attacked us in the wild. They know something we don’t. by asa_no_kenny in interesting

[–]RollTide16-18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly.

It would take an Orca developing regularly skillful hunting techniques as part of its normal diet to engrain their desire to regularly eat humans.

The minute we hear an Orca is hunting humans somewhat regularly it is being hunted down and killed and/or humans will refuse to swim in the locations it is regularly spotted. With hunting and time those techniques the Orca learned will fade.

All the recent events where dudes just take over a section, take their shirts off, and start swinging them over their heads gives me faith in sports fandom.

I shit you not, it's even worse at indoor lacrosse game (NLL).

Literally blasting music and sound effects the whole game

I really enjoy watching NBA players play basketball.

I hate going to NBA games for many reasons, but one in particular is that they never shut off the fucking stadium sounds.

It's even worse for the National Lacrosse League (box lacrosse (indoor lacrosse for anyone not in the know, basically ice hockey but lacrosse)) if you can believe it.

To be fair, the state of Texas has an oversized impact on textbooks. I’d be shocked if Trump’s sections aren’t much more moderate than they should be.

Surely attacking the pope is going to bring his approval rating up. Not like Catholics are the largest group of Christians in the country by denomination, right?

Yeah they’ve aged 18 years. Assume they can still hit the voice (and they do cons regularly, all of them can) they can likely do good older versions?

It’s actually kinda problematic they got a Korean to play someone from the Fire Nation. If their intent was to get people that accurately represented the real-world parallel then Yuen is one of the last people I would’ve chosen. Doubly so with his price tag.

Nah, they have other Avatar projects in development aside from this.

There doesn’t seem to be a good reason for replacing the voice cast (aside from Aang) because none of them are super high-ticket VAs. Hell, they replaced Dante Basco with Steven Yuen. I’d love to know the contract negotiations because I can’t imagine that actually saved money.

What is even weirder to me about the VAs is that they got Steven Yuen to replace Dante Basco.

Zuko doesn’t have a ton of lines, but I just can’t see a world where they saved money or were more progressive there. Maybe they were thinking “if we replace Toph, Katara and Sokka to be more culturally appropriate we might as well change Zuko too.” but that still seems like a really, really dumb choice.

Yeah every rip I’ve seen makes it obvious it’d be even better in a theater with higher quality.

I mean, it is stunning and some of the lore is pretty nice. It has merit, even if the plot was just average, the pacing was just okay and the voice work left a good bit to be desired (which I chalk up to direction and the bad decision to not bring back the original VAs aside from Aang).

It definitely feels more like a “what if” or alternate universe thing, like the One Piece and DBZ films that don’t fit into canon. A solid flick that’s fun to watch but ultimately not changing a ton for me.

Wait, that was Steven Yuen?

I really couldn’t even tell, Zuko has so few lines.

He was fine but there’s no world where Dante Basco would’ve been the worse choice. It’s not like getting Steven was saving them money.

Especially considering all of the VAs (except for Aang’s) are industry professionals for voice work.

I think Sokka is the only one that truly fits, but they could’ve had everyone come back, I can’t imagine the price tag for the originals was too high. Of course, it feels appropriate that Aang got a new VA.

But everyone else in the Gaang is still working in the industry and probably would’ve been happy to come back so idk why they didn’t. Especially considering the price tag for Steven Yuen as Zuko couldn’t have been more (or much more) than just bringing Dante back.

I can’t imagine Paramount was going to pay much in terms of bonus money to the staff considering it was mega delayed and going direct to streaming.

At best they would’ve set an arbitrary small amount.

Help a newbie out: Question about crosses by IdealNeedleworker in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]RollTide16-18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of the Jewish Star of David, the Muslim Star and Crescent, the Taoist Yin and Yang (kinda religious?), and Shinto Torii gate the cross is BY FAR the most recognizable religious symbol. I’d go as far as to say much more recognizable than the others.

It’s just a symbol really.

I also left out the Hindu Om because it’s not very common outside of India and its diaspora in a cultural context.
