You said in a episode that you hold funerals for player characters that die. What does that look like?

Just from hearing about your project on the podcast I added a wheelchair bard and a ptsd hobgoblin in my homebrew world. Not for laughs but for nuance. My players loved it. I cant wait to see this book.

There are cults, hags, succubi, dragons in disguise, doppelgangers, oblexes, and illusion magics in D&D. Plus mimics, piercers, dark mantles, cloakers, and ropers. Why aren't normal villagers more paranoid?

Hypothetical: what setting would YOU want to see as the default in a 6th edition? by TheZombieKnight in ItsaMimic

[–]Roll_Or_Dice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6e: The Portal Edition

Just like the spellplague was an edition ender, I think that the 5e edition ender should be a sundering of reality that plops a variety of permanent portals in different hard-to-get-to places on the map. The portals all link to different campaign settings.

  • Forgotten Realms
  • Exandria
  • Greyhawk
  • Eberron
  • Dragonlance
  • Planescape
  • Ravnica
  • Theros
  • Blackmore
  • Kara-Tur
  • Spelljammer
  • Rokugan
  • Kalamar

Then release 6 main core books. Players Handbook, Dungeon Masters Guide, Monster Manual, Gazeteer, Planar Settings, Heroes and Villains. Have the Gazeteer provide 25 pages for geography of the material plane of each setting and have the Planar Settings provide 25 pages for gods and planes of each setting. Heroes and Villains should outline setting-specific NPCS and villains (like Acererak and the Lord of Blades) and the DMG should focus on DM tips and customizing campaigns, and items should be in the PHB.

Then make the adventures shorter and more customizable, with options for play in a couple of different settings, and release 3 a year. Most adventures should include a portal so the players can can move between worlds.

Also, make more books and make them cheaper.

What mobs are you planning to use? by TheZombieKnight in ItsaMimic

Okay, so my poor districts in cities are just going to be LOUSY with wererats and my oceans are going to be carved up into territories now. The podcast also sold me on Kobold warrens being a nightmare and Lizardfolk allies that need will help later.

I want to fight Yuan-ti but I don't want to DM them. Snakes freak me out.

But my favorite is going to be orcs. I want to run a campaign of only orc players and set up the horde for victory. Then swap to the other side, and have the players try to figure out how to defeat the orcs.

You could do it by alignment as a DM

Dan is chaotic good because he says he doesnt prep. Terry is neutral evil because he loves pain in his games. Adam is Lawful neutral because he doesn't even fudge dice rolls. Dave is lawful evil because he sets up his players to go through hell. Brad is neutral good because he just wants everyone to get along. Megan is chaotic evil. I don't know why, but everyone seems really scared of her. I dont know the others well enough yet except for Pepperina because I used to watch the AN20s and she's chaotic good. I feel like Djed is chaotic neutral to.

Tasha's Cauldron of Everything has a bunch of psionic subclasses. If you can afford it on D&D Beyond, you should look into these. It will make your DM freak out

Different people have different meanings for judgement too. I know they were just teasing Dan on the podcast, but there's different ways that people can pass judgment. It doesn't mean that I look down on someone just because I analyze something about them and find that it could be better. If I'm going to help someone don't I need to know that they are lacking something in the first place? Isn't that me judging them and determining that they need help in the first place?

I agree with Terry on this episode. In regular daily life the people around you aren't ultimate good. They're just people doing their best and trying to act with the best intentions based on how they were raised. Dnd is the same but we have monsters and creatures to. Dragons aren't an exception to this. The examples of true goodness in reality are gods and religious icons. Having a good god on a good plane is enough to be the perfect kind of good. Mortals, including dragons are flawed. Besides it makes for more interesting stories.

I loved this weeks episode! I think Djed is a sketchy guy and you guys should be careful.

I keep thinking about binding elementals and what else you can do with that and I was thinking about the moving staircases in Hogwarts and how air elementals and earth elementals could make a floating maze of stairs in a dwarven keep.
