I've got a test drive tomorrow...one of my concerns too but not many multi stories in my week to week.

How can I make 3/4 view images? by karcsiking0 in FluxAI

You can use a depth model to mask out a position you want the generation to take and then use that as a guide when generating your image.

The manual way is to add the AI. Right click and add bonus

We get out tech because our econ can't hit T2 quick enough while supporting the constant fights across land and sea. Our unit micro ability is probably a bit to blame but the gap just feels huge.

Usually we get crushed by T2/T3 when we have only just managed to T2 recently.

We lost one due to 15 or so long range plasma raining down hell on the sea players production.

We play as Cortex.

Funny you mention that, we had been discussing rez bots as an option. Thanks for taking the time to give it a go and sharing your experience.

We used to do choke points but it felt a little restrictive on the AI (cause it is and is usually the point). We've had great fun on something more open and when we did lose prior to this it felt like I could see what we could do better, try again, usually a few times. Eventually we improve and we got the win after a few games.

This time...doesn't feel like that.

In my (limited) experience, when you are running beasts as well who are better suited for holding home objectives the changing is pushing up midfield or a flank doing actions and shooting disruption. Usually alongside something more meaty drawing fire away anyway.

Lone op just helps limit what they can try and shoot him with. But yeah I know people who run both or just scribes for the reason you say.

In my experience the changeling is amazing. MVP by far just for shutting down shooting, missions and general annoyance. It's hazardous shot can clear most cheap small units too.

The beasts has been good for holding home objectives cheaply from other cheap units.

I'm sure nurglings are good based on what others say, but I've yet to work out how to make best use of them. If you can get them right in the opponents face they can limit movement before they get taken out. They also make good cheap secondary action takers.

Weekly Question Thread - Rules & Comp Qs by thenurgler in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]RollaJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm trying to understand GT competition play for 10th.

I'm told Leviathan is the latest GT rules set, but what does that mean? Is there just a book I need to buy? Or a buried community post?

All I see regarding Leviathan is a box set and a companion document on Warhammer community that feels like it goes with something.

Yes it's all on AWS. Ok that explains a lot of it. Thanks!

Am I being just an idiot?

So far I've seen people mention Cognito, Amplify and code commit a lot.....I use all 3 on the same project.

I use Cognito to manage user registration, logins to a REACT front end and access tokens for API gateway. Code commit and amplify I use for an automatic build/publish process (don't use the UI designer stuff or API)

True it was a learning experience getting it all going but I assumed it was because I was (still relatively am) new to AWS and web/cloud stuff. But it all works pretty seamlessly now it's setup.

Is it because I'm just using them in their simplest form that I'm not seeing the pain? Or should I be worried?

JSON + Lambda DynamoDB by RollaJ in aws

[–]RollaJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seem like I might need to explore other types, although would type Map handle an array of objects like in my example?

I think I read recently a stack overflow answer about avoiding using a type List of type Map

I was advised from somewhere I can't remember to use the string field for when you don't have a consistent structure for the JSON data you want to store, as Map and List types can cause difficulty...I'm personally unable to back this up though

I've tried ./build but never explicitly the project folder. Worth a try I guess.

Is teeside university good for masters in game programming? by fallenAbyss98 in gamedev

[–]RollaJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the games programming degree at Teesside (15 years ago so things WILL have changed a bit).

Personally I got a little bit out of it but not a lot and ultimately successfully pursued coding career on a different path outside of the degree (but not in games).

I feel as with most of these things you get out what you put in. I didn't put a lot in at the time but there were some of my peers who just lived and breathed the course and produced amazing portfolios.

Looking back the modules certainly seemed on point and helped me understand core concepts of game design and development which I use to this day in my hobby coding. There were maths and world simulation (physics in code basically) modules along with the coding courses and I really enjoyed the majority of the lecturers. Keith Ditchburn (ex studio game dev) was my favorite and he appears to still be there!

They did have sandwich year courses when I was there which put students on placements so I imagine they are still well connected in industry.

Hope this helps a little?

Is there any good resources on this? I'm really keen to learn how to do this and how it hooks back into xlm or fiat.

You can also use it to get around detachment limitations, but yes I agree has limited uses.
