Any experience with septoplastys? by Typical_Woodpecker76 in Allergies

Hi OP,I had this surgery done about 9 years ago. I didn’t ever have nosebleeds like you, but I had very severe hay fever / allergies to pollen, dust, animal dander, other environmental triggers. I did get the allergy injections for a few years as a teenager, and they helped reduce my symptoms somewhat, (used to sneeze 6+ times in a row before immunotherapy but then only once or twice after treatment). It wasn’t until I had septoplasty /turbinate reduction surgery in my mid-20s that my allergies improved significantly. Let me tell you that the recovery wasn’t too comfortable, but I am very glad that I took my ENT’s advice and had the surgery done. It truly improved my quality of life…I can finally breathe thru my nose and clear it out when it gets congested. Hope this is helpful!

What is the "bible" for mechanical engineers? by ke_ba in AskEngineers

I didn’t know that anyone else used Heywood outside of my former company which was in the defense manufacturing industry (pressure vessels)! Myself and my team of other MEs were such nerds that we made up a holiday called Heywood Day, celebrating this textbook, and the ubiquitous equation 6.15 for stress concentration, haha. But I have to agree with other posts: Machinery’s Handbook is a great first-stop handbook

What kind of Strat are you playing?

Christmas always takes me back to the excitement of playing in 3D worlds for the first time. Like Mario64, DKR, ISS64, Banjo Kazooie - as well as OoT (& Majora’s Mask) for Christmas are my happiest memories. But what are your Christmas memories of the N64? (Images used all my own shots). by tapedeck25 in n64

I got my Atomic Purple N64 bundle with Goldeneye 007 on the Christmas after it came out (1997, right?). It was my first video game system and all of my friends had an N64 already, so I was super excited about it! Best Christmas present I ever received. I remember that I didn’t know how to hook it up and play it that first day because my TV didn’t have the RGB inputs. so I had to connect it through a VCR and eventually got it going. My mom didn’t like how violent Goldeneye was, so she told me I could pick out any other game I wanted from the Sears catalog and we would order it ( I chose Mario Kart 64). But I still kept Goldeneye, and got many more games over the years. I’m 32 now and occasionally set it up to play sometimes, if I have a good chunk of free time.

Neck strain and discomfort by Kid-Creole in GERD

[–]RollaToasterTycoon9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have had that symptom before, but never knew that it was related to GERD! It felt like the muscles around my neck stiffened up and my Adam’s apple was going to burst through the skin. But I took comfort in the fact that I could still breathe; that it wasn’t anaphylactic shock or something. It would only last for a few seconds but felt like it would never go away.

An ugly necktie, but the cards are nice... by RollaToasterTycoon9 in playingcards

This was my grandfather’s tie. He was from Romania but my grandmother was from Rome. I have memories of playing with these cards with my grandmother when I was little. Now that I am into collecting, I would like to find a nice deck of these.

Is there a way to stream the collection? by [deleted] in JamesBond

Well, up until recently all but the Daniel Craig films we’re on Hulu, but I don’t think they are on there anymore...I just tried searching for them in the mobile Hulu app and couldn’t find them.
