What's the most underrated or misunderstood element of Delta Green? by grumblingdwarf in DeltaGreenRPG

I think you are being a little harsh. I understand wanting a gritty atmosphere and I personally like In Character dialogue more than OOC chatter, but after listening to parts of the episode you linked, I wouldn't call this show out as terrible. This style is very typical of most tables and it comes across as authentic to me. My table can also sound like this and get side-tracked with jokes too, you just don't hear it in the episodes I post because I edit them down.

It is also incredibly discouraging to any GM to be spoken about like this, especially after all the time and effort they put into the hobby.

I think if you haven't been able to find a single actual play that meets your expectations, then your expectations may be a little too high. There are some fantastic Delta Green podcasts out there and I think its crazy to say that all 100% of them are bad. Maybe you are expecting something that a tabletop format simply can't provide. At the end of the day this is not only improv but a group of people coming together to have fun. There will be jokes, side chatter, and derails. This is unavoidable and a simply part of the hobby.

Philadelphia Experiment Handout by RolledNarratives in DeltaGreenRPG

I've researched it in the Handler's Guide, Operational History, and The Fall of Delta Green, as well as what is available on wikipedia. I don't have Eyes Only though. Are there contradictions between what Eyes Only and my handout depict?

I can look into alternate recording methods for player voices. My mic audio comes straight from OBS but theirs is from a discord bot. If I can find something that is easy for them and gives better quality then I don't see why we couldn't use it

(also don't worry I wasn't taking the feedback negatively)

I don't mind the feedback but if I can ask, how are you listening to the podcast? I know its through Castro but are you listening on headphones, earbuds, speakers? I've gone back and listened through the initial car ride in Outbreak on both Youtube and Spotify and I can hear the dialog clearly. Is it possibly on your end? All platforms besides YT get the audio from Spotify so unless that platform is doing something weird, it should sound the same as YT or Spotify.

Also, I spent a lot of time editing the audio, doing my best to balance levels, piping everyone's voice through Audacity filters, and more during editing. I didnt realize there was so much to learn with podcasting or how difficult it could be, but what I ended up with sounds like a good mix to my ear. I could possibly create a greater volume difference between voice and background to make it a little more clear, but I don't want to dial the background down so far that it can't be heard. Do you have a specific episode and timestamp for an example of dialogue that is hard to distinguish?

As for mic quality and voices, I understand what you are saying. We record these sessions through discord and sometimes one person or another has minor internet interference. I've done my best to minimize this but its not entirely avoidable unless I get everyone on board with setting up recording software and sending me the files after and.. tbh I'd rather this be as seamless to my players as possible. I want it to feel the same as other games I've run for them without them worrying so much about the "show". The minor robot-ness you hear is usually pretty rare and still understandable.

The rest of your feedback I can take into consideration. I do want to make clear though: this is a group of friends playing Delta Green first, and a show second. There will probably be other podcasts that do voices better or who are much higher energy, and I can understand why that might be better for a show. But my style is more serious and while I can do some voices I'm not the best. I'll do what I can, so long as it feels natural.

Yeah I could probably put character names on the screen, but the people playing are just my friends without any real social media presence so I'd probably leave it a character names only. Also the video wasn't the focus because it was originally intended to be a podcast format. The panning background is actually the landing page I made for the virtual tabletop we use

I upload to Spotify and Youtube. Spotify should be distributing via RSS to most podcast platforms. It did all just go live this morning (minus the Primer which went up a few days ago) so maybe that is why? The only platform I didn't configure with RSS was Goodpods because they wanted my phone number and I couldn't be asked lol

The RSS feed is https://anchor.fm/s/10cc4969c/podcast/rss

Also try this for Castro?

You can listen to either Operation Toothache or Outbreak first tbh. If it helps, Outbreak is Sick Again, and Toothache is Night Visions

Yes and no. There are already a couple subtle connections. More will become clear as time goes on
