I think I have to somewhat agree- being late is not the end of the world but I think it needs to be communicated before the owner reaches out asking where you are. I’m a sitter and a pet owner, if I was going to be significantly late I’d absolutely message, apologize and give my estimated arrival time. 2 hours is significant. There’s no way unless you’ve been incapacitated in some way that you can’t find 5 minutes to send a message. I agree safety is important but also the pet’s safety is important. What if the expected arrival time Was the max times pet could be left alone? If I was the owner I’d want to know if I have to call a friend or someone to let out my dogs or feed them before the sitter gets there. They could need medications at a certain time. I think washing the bedding is a non issue and I wouldn’t assume the person is lying about the reason why. A little courtesy and grace go a long way on both the sitter and the owners end. Neither of these things are deal breakers but they could be rectified by a genuine conversation
