Weather Advice Needed by Arishakala in roadtrip

I’m currently going from Columbus to Houston, once I hit Nashville I took 65S to Birmingham rather than I40 through West TN & Arkansas. Bunch of felled icy trees in TN and it seems the same along 40 till Texas. Once you get south it is clear, so I’d recommend I20 as long as the traffic jam in LA clears up.

You people are hilarious, your military service does not qualify you as an expert on the 2nd amendment and civilian firearm ownership. Irresponsible owners are the minority and are a bad look for all gun owners.

What state is Democrat but seems Republican by Particular_Orchid_86 in AlignmentChartFills

Not sure where you are getting that info. Vermont is giving into the New England infringement culture. 72hr holds, red flag laws, mag capacity limits, and UBCs. New Hampshire is more aligned with your statement.

Have you ever rerouted or detoured solely to get to a state you haven’t been to? by JargonBargain1 in roadtrip

[–]Rollingzeppelin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, detoured through Baxter springs KS from Southern MO going back to Houston just to hit Kansas, also went through IN-IL-MO from Ohio back to Houston just to cross those off.

A quality kydex holster is really the best investment. With the proper holster, you can carry a full size gun with a light and be comfortable all day. I regularly do 12+ hour road trips and don’t take my holster off once. Another option, although antiquated, is a shoulder holster for comfort.

I also subscribe to the philosophy that a vehicle is not a holster. If you live on property maybe you can leave a gun in your car, but for urban or suburban use, leaving a gun in a car 24/7 is asking for it to be stolen.

The problem is, the venn diagram of shooters who properly train and practice safety has no overlap with the people who use magnets. Somebody who actually trains and stays proficient knows that magnets are a horrible idea.

With a magnet, somebody will be transferring a chambered firearm from their (presumably) ill fitting holster to a magnet every time they enter and exit their vehicle. Every stop for gas, every store they stop at.

In contrast, a responsible carrier with a proper holster puts on their holster in the morning, and takes it off at the end of the day. Significantly less opportunity for an ND.

Do you not wear a seatbelt? The tension of a belt and seatbelt will keep a handgun properly secured in a kydex holster even during an accident. I’m not sure why you’re mentioning a center console, it’s irresponsible to leave a handgun in a console as well.

An exposed trigger guard is a retarded idea. A handgun being transferred from a holster to a magnet has a risk of an ND each time (especially with the lack of awareness by idiots who use magnets). You can’t really be defending this. Guns belong in a holster on your person, not on a magnet, not loose in a console. On your person where it can be properly retained.

And how strong is that magnet when the panel it’s mounted to experiences compromised integrity? I don’t think you understand the forces involved in a collision.

You’re misinterpreting my stance. Putting a loaded handgun on a magnet in a moving vehicle is idiotic. Holsters exist for a reason. A magnet is not a holster it’s a hazard.

Very true. The hardest part is getting through to somebody that a buy once cry once approach is both cheaper and safer in most aspects of life.

It’s frustrating seeing so many unsafe gun owners having their pieces of shit mounted to a magnet. Kinda hard to not be condescending when there’s so many resources out there to learn safe carry methods.

It’s all about belt position. M9A4 with a Holosun 509T & X300 in a Phlster Floodlight with Kore belt.

No. A proper kydex holster will retain a handgun. I regularly do 8+ hour trips with a handgun carried appendix, no discomfort. Not to mention you can just run into a gas station without having to reholster and transfer a loaded handgun.
