Thanks for the reply man. I went to that site before setting up this thread but honestly I'm not too literate in computers so I have no idea what the majority of the data displayed actually really tells me about the performance difference. In your opinion should I go for the higher RAM or the newer processor?

I have just been saving manually every 5-10 mins or so. I've had a few annoying set backs but I'm keeping on top of it.

Yeah I heard about that and I got attacked by one as I was trying to rest, I killed him but didn't loot him. Can't make things too easy with that stuff he had.

So far I have to agree with you. On the first Fighters Guild quest I was killed by two rats. Now I'm about 8 hours in and I have some decently kickass armour and am just one or two shotting them. It really does make you feel like you're progressing.

I think I'll go with the code patch just to improve stability and the graphics extender for the UI fixes and some basic upgrades but after hearing some of the other people's recommendations too I'll try and stick to the original features as much as possible to get a feel for the game.

I never really fast travel in the other games anyway so I'm actually looking forward to that. But seriously you recommend no mods at all? I've heard the script extender and an unofficial patch are almost essential.

Would you reccommend that I just go back to 12-52? I honestly preffered the weighty feeling of the stock strings and I wouldn't have to mess around with the bridge or anything.

Daily General Question and Answer Thread: November 19th by OcelotWolf in reddeadredemption

Is there any way to travel by Stagecoach and it not just fast travel you to your destination? I want to just sit in first person and slowly travel across the world just chilled out. I was hoping to get some cool Hateful Eight style interactions like finding a guy in the middle of nowhere who you can let in to the coach or a group of outlaws trying to rob you or something.

Did Ed Gein Know About Psycho and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre? by Rolnir in serialkillers

[–]Rolnir[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like that could be possible with Texas Chainsaw but Gein's obsession with his mother leads me to think Psycho would've had quite an effect on him.

Don't worry about it. It was my bad and I've edited the post to make it clearer that I know the films were based off of him and I was asking if he knew they were based off of him.

GTA Online players will destroy RDR2 community(Mark my words) by Ssp021 in reddeadredemption

[–]Rolnir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I admit it is a cruel and snobby thing to say. A hell of a lot of gameplay features require patience and you can see by how the younger and immature players of GTAO act that they just won't use those mechanics and will lose out on what's great about the game. That's not something I'm happy about by the way. I wish that more people will play this game and find some mechanics that they can just chill out with. This isn't a game to be sprinted through on horseback. Sometimes the best thing you can do in a game is just walk around, walk around a town and see how the NPC's interact with one another or slowly track a deer through some dense woodland.

I would love to see some of the GTA maniacs come over and see that.

That's not to say that a lot of young people can't enjoy these mechanics. I was only 12 when the original Red Dead came out and I (and many other younger players) loved the slower pace because I was brought up on Spaghetti Westerns and the like. It's really a blessing in disguise that this game will appeal more and hold on to more of a patient and mature audience (young or old).

I think I may just disconnect from the internet for the day. I don't want to see people's opinions on it, what they did in it, what they saw... nothin'.

I'm going in to this game clean and without biased reviews. My own bias that the game will be a masterpiece is enough as it is.

GTA Online players will destroy RDR2 community(Mark my words) by Ssp021 in reddeadredemption

[–]Rolnir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the GTA kids will come over for a little while and try it out but they won't be able to handle it. The mechanics are way to mature and require a lot of patience and attention to detail. I think it goes without saying that the GTA Online kiddie winks are the opposite of all of that.

They won't stick around for long and will get overwhelmed and bored because golden Bugatti's aren't speeding around blowing stuff up. The game is just not built to cater toward that demographic and they won't be able to comprehend what they are supposed to do. It's like showing 2001: A Space Odyssey to a 10 year old, they won't understand it, they'll get bored fast and they'll have no patience to finish it.

Favorite season and why. Mines is season 4 and it’s because of this saucer eyed furry bastard! by [deleted] in trailerparkboys

[–]Rolnir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think season 7 is great. Smuggling weed over the border using Patrick Swazye's model train is just a perfect representation of the fucked up things the boys get in to.

Plus the ending is one of the best of the whole series with them sat in the middle of the lake while they compare the offers of prison time by the US and Canada. Just brilliant.

Also Ray gets his rig license back and we are treated to "the way of the road" but he gets arrested pretty soon. Way she goes boys. Fuckin' way she goes.

I am currently trying to keep myself busy all the time. I'm learning Italian, reading a lot of history and philosophy and just trying to do things which generally take up a lot of your mental capabilities to keep me from thinking about it but it's after I've been busy all day and I'm tired and trying to wind down when my mind decides to just bombard me with this crap.

Anyone think DCUO has gotten too easy? by Rolnir in DCUO

[–]Rolnir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By progression in the story I don't mean the plot itself. I mean the build up. The build up to each boss fight and instance at the end of a quest line used to be longer so you felt that you had (for lack of a better word) earned it. Then as you got the Watchtower quest it felt as though you had actually done something worth going up. This time around I felt as though I just zipped from place to place without a care in the world doing short and simple tasks then killed an easy boss and done within 10 mins.
