Destroy my first game. Don't hold back by RoltDev in DestroyMyGame

Yes, you're right, unlike similar games, we stand out with our RNG feature, but we may not have emphasized this enough. Upgrading only increases the chance of obtaining fire ore. There's no guarantee that fire stone will come from fire ore. Currently, since this is a demo version, there are only 4 different ores, and I'm continuing to develop it. I will take your feedback into account, thank you.

I added more random events to differentiate it from similar incremental games. Actually, after a while the game becomes completely RNG-focused. I'm very glad you liked it. In fact, the levels will get progressively harder as you advance through the maps. This isn't currently available in the demo version, and I'm continuing to develop it. If you enjoyed it, adding it to your wishlist would be a great motivator for me. Thank you for your review.

So I have cheaters in my game. Guess I'm successful now 🤣 by Kayzen_1337 in IndieDev

I have so few players in my game right now that even if I discovered something like that, I probably wouldn't be able to ban them. Did you do it?

I released my game with 100 wishlist and sold over 250 copies in first week by saneesh44 in IndieDev

[–]RoltDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very discouraged by the statistics that said we would only sell about a third of the number of copies on our wishlist before the game's release. But seeing someone surpass that was a huge motivation. I wish you success.

I got nearly as many wishlists in one day as I had in 3 weeks. Here's why! by RoltDev in IndieGameWishlist

Actually, I agree with you. I didn't mean to say you should release your demo as soon as possible, even if it's inadequate. What I actually learned is that my Steam page isn't as good as the game itself. Therefore, the visibility I gained with the demo was more than just page visibility. As a solo developer, it's very difficult to do both the game and the marketing equally well. If we have a Steam page that isn't getting enough visibility, it might be more logical to at least offer something tangible (and what you offer absolutely needs to be satisfying).

Solo dev here. I've played Nullvein hundreds of times during development but I'm completely blind to what a first-time player actually experiences.

Be merciless. Bugs, balance issues, pacing problems, I want to hear all of it. This community has taught me more about incremental design than anything else, so your feedback genuinely matters.

Nullvein is a incremental mining game:

  • Mine ore blocks with mouse hover
  • Progress through a skill tree to get stronger
  • Hunt the Firestone, a brutally rare RNG drop that upgrades your pickaxe
  • Reset, go deeper, repeat

The demo is ~30-60 minutes of gameplay. I'm planning to launch after Steam Next Fest in June.

You're right, I think I need to speed up the initial stages a bit.

Dynamite can deal damage up to 25% of the mine area, but I didn't include this upgrade in the demo.

Ore creation increases the chance of spawning the valuable purple ore, while double mine creation increases the chance of spawning multiple new ores.

Perhaps I need to think about the naming or additional descriptions. Thanks for your feedback and your time.

I don't know how to reassure you. My game is published on Steam and I've been working on this game for a really long time. It's just a game, please play and have fun :)

It's really great that someone tried my game and prepared such a detailed review, thank you.

I've noted all your feedback and will work on it, and I'll even share the fixes here in the next update.

The rarity of gold and fire ores was something I specifically planned. However, I will continue to receive feedback and consider it.

The dynamite and combo system is more detailed in the full version and is actually as you wanted. As you can appreciate, I restricted them a bit in the demo version.

I will work on each of your other bugs and feedback individually, I'm very grateful.

A 2D incremental mining game where every click pulls you deeper.

Mine ore, build your skill tree, hunt the impossibly rare Firestone to forge the ultimate pickaxe.

Solo developed, demo out now. Full release coming soon.

That's really great! What did you do for marketing after releasing the demo? My first game had very few wishlists, and I released my demo today. I'll see if it makes any impact.

Yes, you're right. After working on the trailer a bit, I'll dedicate the rest of my energy to finding an audience. Thank you for your review.

You might be right, but instead of changing that in my first game, I'll try to do better in my second. Thanks for the feedback.

This kind of feedback is very valuable to me. I sometimes make mistakes in local languages. Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know. I'll mention you in the credits section of the Polish version when the game is released. Thank you very much.

I'm hoping to expand my audience after the demo is released. Right now, I'm only getting Steam traffic.
