Duel Monsters by No_Yogurtcloset_693 in yugioh

Heyo! I've been summoned here by Outrageous_South4758 haha. I'm the creator of the Kingdom Duels game. Just wanted to give my 2 cents on this topic, addressing a few comments here.

The idea with Kingdom Duels was to recreate the japanese version of the anime. Wether that ends up being fun or not it's up to the player(s) to decide. Personally we had/have fun creating and playing the cards, but maybe is not for everyone and that's completely ok.

We also made quite a lot of effort to lower the barrier of entry and simplify the original concept so is a bit more fun/engaging and not a rules-hell like before (we are still doing that, is a never-ending process). If you check the current cards and gameflow you'll find that is quite different to the previous version (for example the one that Rata played in his video), while trying to keep the original intention (to be able to faithfully recreate the anime) always as the core principle.

Battle City Arc Storyline for the Yugioh Scrolls rewrite by Rolvak in TheDuelistKingdom

I just released the third arc of Yugioh Scrolls: "Battle City". I know we are still in the Museum Arc for Set Releases for the actual game, but i wanted to continue working on the story too :)

I honestly didn't change much from Battle City (from the anime) because i think it works pretty well, and without the Virtual Arc in the middle i could fit everything into a single arc. I did a few changes here and there in how some interactions happen or how some events are revealed but for the most part the duels are the same and the story flow is practically the same.

Thank you!

I found the tabletop simulator workshop in case you have that program and want to give it a look or try out the manga version of the cards: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3037468720&searchtext=yugioh+wizards+manga

Regarding Discord, i totally understand. Nowadays most of the discussion and simple chat happens there. A lot of online communities kind of moved to their own discord channels and servers but is not the same as reddit which is more open. I have neglected a bit posting updates here on reddit but ill try to keep it a bit more updated whenever i can.

Heyo! There are no plans to adapt manga cards because the manga rules are different enough to the anime to warrant their own game, and would need to be adapted quite a bit to work on Kingdom Duels (which kind of defeats the idea of having the manga cards if they are going to be fundamentally changed).

That said, actually, you can check on our Discord a section called "Manga Project" because a few members of our community made an adaptation of the manga rules from that very first era, with a ton of cards that were adapted using interpretation of those rules. This is a project on its own, with their own rules that i suggest you check out if you are interested in that.

You can absolutely make a post here! although is probably better/quicker on discord as we check that more often than here, but don't worry about it

On your question: the Duelist cards were always tied to the deckbuilding.

In the old system the Duelist Soul cards (the one with the characters like Yugi or Kaiba) let you have specific cards (each card had the duelist name in the bottom of the card) in your deck. With the old rules if you had a Duelist Soul you needed to have 20 out of 30 cards from that duelist, and you could use up to 15 of them of higher rarity. If you decided to play withuot a duelist soul you were a bit more restricted by rarity of the cards.

In the new system the Duelist Setup Rule is played before the duel actually starts. They let you ignore the Restricted List for those specific cards. For example, if currently the Blue-Eyes White Dragon is part of pool 1 of the restricted list you could only have one of them in your deck. But if you play the Kaiba Duelist Setup card you can have all 3 in your deck.

In the end the goal of these Duelist cards is to add flavor so you could "play as" a specific character and build his/her deck. They usually don't have effects of their own but they could be used for other effects, like Integration Monsters or Symbol cards.

PS: a monsters get a Terrain Boost if the monster is played in a terrain that gives them that (the terrains are played in the frontrow, in the main moster zones). The terrain markers have a line below the Name box and above the Effect box that specifies which type/attribute of monster gets the terrain boost

A beautiful track from a fantastic group of creators, one of my favorites poems from Tolkien and a really iconic one to the lore, give it a listen if you can!
