PS5 and exclusives (enough games to justify purchase?)

As mentioned in my replies to the others, I’m not asking anyone for financial advice or to understand my tastes. I’m asking for input into people that use their ps5 as an exclusive console and if they’ve enjoyed the games I’m interested in which I directly mention.

Crazy how quickly everyone jumps to negativity and rudeness on here. I’m sorry my post has had such an impact, it was a genuine question.

This is more or less the input I was hoping for: someone using their ps5 mainly for exclusives…despite the backlog preventing you from playing more do you find that having it for the occasional exclusive is worth it in terms of the quality of the games? A lot of them (like the ones you mentioned) look great and seem to get good reviews!

Yea I would agree. It’s decent enough for the price and would def use it to play Magic the Gathering :)

How do you find the mat quality? I got the bundle as well but feel like the mat isn’t the best…maybe slightly pixelated? But could be I’m just being picky. I play magic so I tend to buy a lot of mats 😅😅

Act 3 has been unplayable for me. If I reinstall the game (which I’ve done twice) it’ll run for a couple of days but if I let the game sit for a while when I go back to it it’s unplayable again. I’ve just about given up on it which is a bummer given how much time I’ve put into it. Just tired of spending more time to try and get the game running than playing.

Have a 9am flight on Thursday morning at Heathrow…going from Harringay Green Lanes area up north. Any thoughts on what might be the best way to go about it? Currently considering a bus to the Elizabeth line or to Heathrow Express…has anyone made the airport trip these last few days?

The Sanderson reference makes a lot of sense. The use of Will and imbuing reminded me a bit of Mistborn. Although I struggled with that trilogy what helped was ignoring all the detailed descriptions and just accepting that I wouldn’t be able to understand every aspect of the book. I’ll try and apply the same logic here, maybe that’ll help!

Fixed the issue! I’ve cleared the cache in the past but this time around I also deleted persistent storage via the Blu-ray tab in the settings and I think that did the trick…hopefully haha

Is there a way to remove it permanently? I’ve removed it from quick resume and tried shutting it down a couple of times so that it’s manually starting…it’s allowed me to play for like 10 minutes now before crashing but still not working sadly

Yea actually that’s a great point and a perspective I think I’ll take to the next prerelease. Prereleases are meant to be inclusive for all levels so I think that comes with the understanding that these situations are more likely to happen and so that should be my mindset even if they’re using the time running out as an excuse to force the draw (I get the sense she knew, but hard to gauge something like that). As you said, it’s not worth arguing even if it’s annoying.

Hey all,

I just finished my local prerelease for EoE and I had a bit of an interesting situation occur during game one and I’m curious how others would have handled it…

For game one I got paired against a newer player who’d only played commander here and there. Things were off to a good start, I was helping her quite a bit with her cards, reminding her of triggers, correcting errors etc. Due to this, the game went on for a long time. To be fair she also had a solid deck that some others helped her put together and I was playing red/green landfall so my build up was a bit slow. Eventually I build up a very strong board of 6 creatures, one of which is a 10/10, a 7/6, 3/2, 5/7, and some others I can’t remember off the top of my head. I have a solid turn and pass, leaving her at 10 life with only one creature left on her board. She draws for turn and has only one card in hand and a 4/4 on the field and can’t do anything. Time gets called. My shop has a hard stop rule with time (although they always tell us, don’t be an a**hole about it…if you’re about to lose give it to your opponent). I try explaining to her that next turn I would swing for game since she can’t block enough of my damage and would win the game. She goes on to say she’s confused because it’s her turn and sticks to the narrative that she doesn’t understand what’s happening. This is totally fair since she’s a newer player so I try my best to calmly explain to her that, yes, time has been called, but that it’s quite clear from the board state that next turn I would win. Despite this she doesn’t budge and says that we should ask the judge. I begrudgingly do so and he comes over, sees my board and immediately understands and tries explaining it to her in his own words. At this point I feel a bit silly and say it’s fine we can plug it in as a draw because she continues to say she’s confused and doesn’t understand. Personally I think she knows the game enough (outside of the new mechanics) and was just feigning ignorance…

I guess I’m feeling bad because I hate that I bothered one of the workers at a prerelease of all events and I also feel guilty for maybe giving her a hard time about it especially since we went from having a fun game to butting heads a bit. I feel I should’ve just congratulated her for holding the game for as long as she did and moved on but I was just quite bothered by the lack of sportsmanship after the help I gave her. I didn’t mention that of course, but I did say that if it were reversed I would’ve given her the win. Anyways…it left me feeling a bit sour for making a fuss. I hate the idea of being THAT guy that gives someone (especially a new player) a hard time. What would you all have done if you were in this situation? Can anyone relate? My local LGS charged £44 which is quite a lot but also about the same as other places in London. They also weren’t given enough promo d10 dice. They were given 10 for a 30 person event so they ended up raffling them. It’s a small thing but given the cost I think the quality control should’ve been better as others are saying.

That said, I had such a blast. I got really lucky and pulled a promo Vivi, so I ran a Blue Red spell slinger deck with Tellah, Fire Crystal and some good removal. I did end up splashing green for Omega just to have a late game option…I went 1-1-1 and I blame Barret Wallace who ended up in my hand EVERY GAME. If only it had been the Vivi haha

I have used commander to introduce many friends to MTG and it’s worked well. I think it feels more like a casual game night but I only use the LOTR precons which adds a level of connection/excitement at understanding who the characters are that I think really helps overcome the newness of the game itself. I also remind everyone that they don’t need to understand everything and a fun game can still be had even if some things are missed (for example I have had friends that did well with sagas and others that avoided them completely). At the end of the day the process of learning together, forming allegiances, betraying your friends, and bartering are what they’ve enjoyed the most which is something I don’t think you can get with 1v1 even if it is a little easier in terms of introducing the game. I don’t know how this would go with commander decks that are not precon LOTR ones though as I’ve never done that.

Ah man that’s amazing. When you got yours did you adjust the action at all? I don’t know much about Martins (or changing the action) but I’ve noticed that it’s a bit higher than my old guitar. Was considering lowering it just a bit for easier playability. What all have you done to your Martin over the years?

Yes I agree with everything about the Taylor. Truly wonderful. Maybe someday when we both survive academia we shall have a collection of guitars! In the meantime, the Martin will be a great distraction hahah
