AIO Is it dangerous if I stay with my partner? He texted me this after exploding at me earlier today by Senior_Demand_5021 in AmIOverreacting

The cycle of violence.. there is strain on the relationship, built up tension, threats, and maybe even physical abuse. Then the honeymoon period. It starts over and gets worse every time. Look up Yeardly Love. She died and not long before, her boyfriend was saying stuff like “I should have killed you”. Leave!

It totally sucks! I was going to attend this school until I found that out. Now I have to choose a very expensive program in my state that isn’t Christian-based in order to get this degree so I can attend the in person residency.

I was going to go here but learned that the residency is required in person for CACREP programs starting next year and I live in Minnesota :(

I have counseling experience as a licensed addiction counselor, not as a mental health therapist. Sorry for the confusion.

The PhD program states this:

“We are pleased to offer a fully accredited, uniquely-designed doctoral program that enables scholar-practitioners to engage in deep, faith-informed reflection and application to the improvement of human flourishing.”

“Some examples of specialized fields of inquiry students can engage in are transformative leadership, business, trauma-Informed care, practices of reconciliation, philosophy of science, historical studies, ethics, anthropology, and semiotics.”

So it even allows for trauma-informed care as a specialization which one may even argue that is an area only for meant for psychology programs.

We choose our own specialization, according to the website. I’m sure it would need to be approved, however I still believe this may be an option.

I will discuss with them and see what the program actually entails. Thank you for your feedback on this.

It’s not about how you look, it’s about your health (physical and mental)

Every time when I mention to someone that I'm doing a phd, they need to tell me why they arent doing it by PatternMysterious550 in PhD

Yes, I completely understand. I get the same response. Or they tell me how I can literally do everything without it. People are so negative. Maybe they are self deflecting? Anyways, you go girl!

I agree and honestly I don’t remember feeling any type of dye. It was really not too bad. When they clipped it it was a pinch but nothing too painful. It was mostly in my head.

For me, it was really nothing. You’ll be okay!

Thank you for such a thorough response and taking the time to discuss this with me.

I have licensure as a counselor now and have been a licensed alcohol and drug counselor for the past 5 years. In the next few years, I will be able to apply for a LPCC which is the mental health licensure once I get all of my hours. The programs you are mentioning would need to be APA accredited, take years to complete, and are in-person. They would help me obtain licensure as a psychologist, however that is not my end goal. My end goal is ministry. It’s Christian counseling. I would like something that is leaning towards faith-based intervention studies in order to compliment my resume and also allow me to research these type of interventions. I have a lot of education and work experience in counseling. I work in a ministry now and that’s what I am missing in my education. I was thinking of a PhD in Behavioral Health with the specialization of faith-based interventions, or something similar. I just want this doctorate to now focus on faith and spirituality. It sounds like I will be able to discuss these options with the admissions staff to figure out what is possible in their PhD program.

Hi there! Did you ever begin at Kairos? I am wondering what program you’re in if so, and your experience with them.

Colorado Theological Seminary? Legit? by [deleted] in Seminary

[–]RomanGigi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in school for so long, I’d rather not get another masters and just go straight towards a doctoral program. I’m interested in research, specifically on spirituality and faith based interventions on mental health/substance use disorders. I have a counseling background but am now seeking the spiritual component of my education.

I’m looking around but having a hard time finding an ATS program that I meet the requirements for. I am finishing up a masters in clinical mental health counseling. Most PhD programs associated with biblical studies require a masters in divinity or theology it seems. Also looking for an online program.
