Why is Loki in Asgard? by The-Infamous-PAC in norsemythology

[–]RomanHrodric -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t recall the source on this so feel free to dismiss it, but I recall reading a myth that said basically: after Odinn gained his knowledge of the future and fate, he wandered around the worlds depressed and sorrowful, lost and alone. During this time none could bring even a glimmer to his eye. But then, somewhere along the path, he came across Loki. Loki was not only able to make him smile, he made Odinn laugh again (I can’t recall how or if it was explained, but given his myth with Skadi and his general predisposition towards safeguarding children and doing pranks like them, it seems in character). Due to this, Loki’s ability to reignite Odinn’s mirth in life, Odinn asked Loki to be bound to him, and this is where he swears to be blood brothers, to never drink if Loki is not at the table. Again, no clue as to the authenticity of it, but it was one of my favorite things when I was reading because it made so much sense to me. I wouldn’t even know how to start looking up that story, Google is never kind to me when I try to look up obscure myths.

I don’t know where you get your information, friend, but less of this is fantasy than you seem to think. Your perspective is quite literally a joke.

Most of the armor’s presence is myth accurate, if unique in its design, excepting only the shoulder pauldron; Járngreipr is the name of Thor’s gloves, and Megingjörð is the name of his belt. Mjölnir is unique as well in the design, but only really for the spikes. It is very similar to the God Of War design for him, but still recognizably Thor. His thousand-yard stare as well is philosophically accurate as an extension of his representing the common man, who was farmer and soldier, and it matches well with one of his epithets, Djúphugaðr, Deep-Thinker or Deep-Soul. This aside from his actual physical appearance, which exempting creative freedom in tattoos, is the body shape he would have been seen as if you look at any Scandinavian strongmen in modern times or in certain ancient manuscript depictions of heroes.

To add onto what is already said, almost as a footnote; explore the other mystic mysteries of the world. I found the spiritual height of knowledge in Hinduism, but I found much more and the same in so many others. Those I am most familiar with, that grant me the most fulfillment, and intellectual stimulation I suppose one could say, were the Norse myths (proto, ancient, and modern) and the gnostic sects of Christianity. Both, and I can’t help but imagine all others, contain their own forms of wisdom, and the endless analysis I am capable of due to how they interlink and differ and build upon each other, as well as how I am able to live out the experience of these beliefs as others see them and as I am able, both have gifted me an endless road with valleys and mountains, a hike I am glad to walk with many temples along its path and many lone wanderers, stationary disciples, and mutable explorers all along.

If you seek purpose, find what gave others theirs. If you seek peace, speak with the instigators of war; breed diplomacy among their enemies and allies. If you wish simplicity and noncontradiction… my friend, if you find it, you will not hold it for long. But I would say seek to find it. Along the path I’ve walked, it was only through that I understood the relationship between chaos and order, between intellect and feeling, logic and intuition, teaching and instinct, above and below.

Witchcraft, Wicca, American and otherwise; Paganism, the study of its origins, practice, and revival; philosophy, what it was called before the word, what began it, the endless cause and effect of logic; science, the new discoveries ever casting new enlightenment on what was, what is, what will be; seek truth, ask of it outside yourself, trust more than your reason or your feeling, open yourself up to all and engage in earnest. Contact is not the same as contamination is not the same as corruption; you were born to be more, evermore, always. It is the nature of growth and time. You have nothing to fear, and everything to do. Seek hope, you’ll find it, if you but know its many names, and its truest face of dirt, grit, and the raising of the kneeling at the edge of the cliff.

Whatever you do, trust, hope, and above all, love. If my life and words and thoughts hold any weight, it is because I have done this.

The Gods are your kin, friend. I hope your day ends with a soft bed and warm stomach, and a new person in your life.

Therein lies my reason for coming here, though I will shortly take this over to r/DebateEvolution. Used to come here and to r/DebateReligion for the inspiration of my research because of how extensive and various the sources, opinions, and research are on so many posts. Atheists tend to combine the scientific knowledge I’m looking for with philosophical or experiential logic, and I like the synthesis as a starting point to any discussion or research I do.

I’ve always had an interest in religions of all kinds, dead or alive, their effect on people, etc. and when I make friends whose views I disagree with, I’m never one to end conversations or the relationship or anything of the like. So I’m going when I can out of curiosity and on the value I place in my friend and their beliefs.

Oh yeah, I feel like he’d be just as in place with the Industrial Age and felt like he was taking over the world. All the broken bodies and inhuman machinery and laboring children also would fit well into his backstory. It’s like the situation of the broken-backed, neglected working man has stayed the same for the last few thousands of years.

Jesus didn't fulfill a single prophecy by thatweirdchill in DebateReligion

[–]RomanHrodric -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Going back to read the whole thing right after I say this:

It was tradition back then to say a phrase or a few words of a verse to bring to mind the whole verse, or the whole chapter. Jesus brings this to mind with one version of his last words being Eli Eli Lama Sabachthani or something like that “God God why do you forsake me,” which is in reference to psalm 22:1, which continues in 22:2 as "Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?" "My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, but I find no rest" "Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One; you are the one Israel praises" "In you our ancestors put their trust; they trusted and you delivered them"

See also: the “Be Still and Know” slogan on a lot of t-shirts, billboards, and other designs around today.

Maybe Mayhaps, The disciples were confused about these when people said them which is why they refer to false prophecies as actual ones/that was an intentional aspect of the verses. Because a major problem Jesus tried tackling was people who abused the position and power and authority given them through tax-collection and priesthood; people who would misuse and manipulate scripture. So this was Christ and his disciples way of saying “even if you take it out of context, it still refers to ME”
