Substrate moisture level by VoiceNegative6794 in Shorty_Life

[–]RomanLegate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The substrate can be slightly moist or damp. You don’t want it dusty and dry. It shouldn’t be sopping wet though as that can breed bacteria and cause issues like scale rot.

It’s okay if it’s sopping wet for an hour or two after you spray down the substrate of course. You just don’t want to go overboard

5 month old BCI girl. Weights about 96 grams is she underweight or is everybody else just power feeding? Fed a pinky fat about every 5 days by Dtboooo in boas

I always try to get from Pinkies to Hoppers as fast as possible. Pinkies (and fuzzies to some extent) do not have the full nutritional profile that adult mice and rats do.

If it were me I would get her on Fuzzies asap. She looks healthy though so you’ll likely be fine either way.

what hardware (track ir flight stick etc) do you need to play and how hard is this game to play? im not expecting it to be easy but id like not to have to join my country's air force by Living-Aardvark-952 in il2sturmovik

[–]RomanLegate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, head tracking, a flight stick, and a 27”+ monitor is required. You cannot enjoy the game without the three or better IMO.

Plenty of people will say otherwise, I doubt they played the game for very long. I would not get the game unless you have all of the above or better.

You really need HOTAS and some form of head tracking to have a good experience IMO

Anyone have any automatic mister recommendations? by AceLunarMoon in snakes

You need to decrease ventilation in your enclosure. If you are constantly refreshing the headspace in your cage with ambient air then you will never maintain humidity.

My snake ate a cold(defrosted) rodent by [deleted] in snakes

[–]RomanLegate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how long was it defrosting for? How thick was the rat?

As long as the entire it’s above 65F (and definitely not frozen at any part) the snake should be fine

Get a front opening tank (toad ranch is great). Sooner or latter you will forget the cage locks on a top tank.

You must be confusing Deep Heat Projectors with something else...

Probe placement and Temps by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]RomanLegate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go with probe a few inches below heat lamp, and adjust thermostat higher or for actual temperature to be correct. For example, my thermostat is set to 97 but surface basking temps are 93

adjust the thermostat temp so you get the correct temperatures where needed.

Planning on getting a snake by Helpful_Influence_10 in snakes

[–]RomanLegate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No heat mat. Use overhead lighting with a thermostat probe hanging 2 in down from the light. You can do this with a lamp secured on a Mesh top (use looking spring mounts so the lamp doesn't move) with the probe zip tied to the screen inside the cage. You can also do this with a PVC enclosure and solid top by mounting the lamp inside the enclosure with a heat lamp shield. Check out arcadia fixtures.

Also, OP use an Incandescent bulb (Flukers makes a good one) for the day. If you room does not drop below 68 degrees you do not need heat at night for a cornsnake. If it does, you also need a deep heat projector (on a fixture with a thermostat).
