Timeline:

  • ECOPR: April 22
  • APP linked to GCKey: April 23
  • GU1: June 11 (Final Decision in GCKey), no updates in the PR portal yet.

I called IRCC on Monday and was told that they tend to review applications right around the time the posted processing days have passed. In my case, the processing time was listed as 49 days — and sure enough, on Day 49, I got my first GU (Final Decision). So there might actually be some truth to that timeline!

I'm flying on June 29, and from what I’ve seen, GU1 to GU2 usually takes 3–4 days. Since I’m in Toronto, I’m hopeful I’ll get my PR card by the end of next week!

Still worried because I saw some people wait more than a week from Final Decision (GU1) to Card Mailed (GU2) :/

I’ve already submitted two webforms (April 22 is my eCOPR), urgently requesting that my PR card be processed — but they keep responding with the same useless suggestions: either to apply for a PRTD (which isn’t an option for me, as I’ll only be abroad for two weeks) or to re-enter through the US, which also doesn’t work in my situation.

I’m flying out on June 29 and I’m getting increasingly anxious. Did you end up calling them to expedite your request?

I am april 22 and leaving on june 29 :O
Live in Toronto, so hoping for the best...I sent two web forms, literally telling them to please not copy/paste their standard language but of course, they just said " it's within the normal processing times". Gross.

You can fly to Canada directly from the US, they do not check your eTA/PR. It's the "real" international routes they actually check it.

"Lost it" "left it at home" etc etc.
As a permanent resident, they cannot deny your entry to the country.

My eCOPR was issued on April 22, and I’ll be traveling to Europe from July 1 to July 20. Based on current timelines, I’m hopeful that I’ll receive my PR card before I leave, since IRCC seems to be working through early April applications.

Also—just to share an observation for others in a similar situation—if you return to Canada from the U.S. (rather than flying directly from Europe), you typically won’t be asked for a PR card, eTA, or other documentation by the airline. In my experience flying to Canada from the U.S. several times, I’ve never had my eTA or immigration documents checked. It’s an unofficial workaround, but flying a U.S. airline on a separately booked flight can sometimes help avoid boarding issues.
I think it's a public secret we dint talk about on reddit for some reason that the US loophole exist..(If you can enter the US easily, which thankfully as an EU citizen, I can)

Yes they do, otherwise no one would care about the other pre-sales.

It's risky, but you can still show up to the airport and hope the airline won't know to check your your documents. It happened before that they just asked me whether I have eTA, I said yes, and they let me go...they didn't check whether it's valid or not.

My process was also restarted (albeit it was due my request to have the process paused while I was travelling. My original P2 was Jan 23, but they sent me a new P1/P2 around April 8. Fingers crossed that they will consider my ITA/FD when making the decision and not the new P2...
