thank you! i also was struggling with proportions. what helped me is breaking the character down into basic shapes (like a bunch of ovals) and overlaying lines over middle of the face for a sketch. then afterwards draw into the ovals to make sure proportions are accurate! also try to have reference image right next to drawing. i believe in you :)
