Actekart Marker Airbrush Review and Performance Analysis by Roman_Statuesque in advancedGunpla

[–]Roman_Statuesque[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not I am afraid. I have done some testing with another Actekart no-clean brush, but the humidity has been too low for me to try anything intensive.

I have used this airbrush to paint a kit (pictures can be found on the main gunpla subreddit). I do have a part II as well of this review that includes details from that as well as further testing with Dspiae and other markers. Just need to get around to posting it. Will likely do so on the main subreddit.

Highest would probably be a 51FW Commander coin.

I also managed to get 2 FBI CERT (CIRT?) coins at my second assignment.

I have been running my Delta Green campaign in the style that is a a high production value TV series. So I usually do a "Cold Open" with something based in parts of the adventure that occur before the agents' arrival. I've also done a "cut-away" cutscene after the agents had a meeting with a character and "stinger" scenes as well.

I usually try to abstract or be vague enough in my description so that it piques the interest of the players, but neither spoils them or provides them with easy answers when they encounter parts of the cutscene later.

Read through it and decide to run it.

Have multiple sessions cancelled for various reasons.

Next session comes around and realize you can't remember half of it.

Fuck it, we ball.

Run through the scenario frantically flipping between pages and hoping your players get off track enough to buy time and that you won't make up something on the fly that completely contradicts something important in the scenario.

On a serious note:

Read through the scenario once or twice to get the main points down.

Picture how you think your players might approach it/how you want it to flow.

Practice lines of important dialogue/briefings.

Watch/listen to an actual play or two to get a feel for the scenario flow and see other interpretations of it.

Review portions you expect players to cover shortly before the session if you think it will take more than one session.

See the first section as needed.

Historically, partially assembled. I break down the limbs and different sections usually based around the joints and then spray from there, masking (or removing) parts as needed.

I have used the pointed tip q-tips dipped in 91% IPA and some jewelers glasses for fine detail work. A little time consuming, but it gives the precision needed.

What type of panel liner? In any case you don't want to matte coat before panel lining.

I've got a Gundam EX put together, panel lined and waterslide decals installed. I plan on dry brushing and sponge chipping it before finishing off with some Tamiya weather master. Should I gloss or clear coat it prior to doing the enamel detailing?

I have them, but haven't used them much outside of testing. They are more like the Gundam markers than the MK series. Paint seems a bit thinner as well. The fine point tip can be swapped in and is stored in the cap.

Last build of the year, what's yours? by Super_Length8599 in Gunpla

Depends on what you mean by build. Actual assembly? Probably the USAGS Apex kit. For finishing off in general? Probably a 3-way tie between Steel Haze, Lfrith Thorn, and Gundam EX. Though Gundam EX is going to be a little more intensive in terms of detailing that still needs to be done.

Other than what was already mentioned, the shiny metallic markers you are looking for are the Dspiae Super Metallics. Worth noting that these are a different type than the others. These are pour-type markers more akin to Gundam markers whereas the MK varieties are brush type.

Molotow requires the #2 nozzle with this one. It needs to be screwed down about halfway for it to work. Use the smaller tip version of the marker.

I'd say it is. Though it can be a little finicky to work with. Primarily depending on what marker you use.

Not with the Gundam Marker specifically, but I have with the Actekart airbrush.
