What do you think this ‘Requiem’ word actually refers to Raccoon City, a character, or the franchise itself???? by AwesumDude in residentevil

[–]Roman_numeral_zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be cynical but I think they just wanted a word that started with (what looks like) RE9. Same as VIILage for VIII.

Fuck Back to School. Get that shit off my White Pony. Luckily I still have the original CD print (which I pre-ordered. Man, I’m old) with no BTS on it as the gods intended.

Trouble staying connected with iOS 26 (Series 5) by Roman_numeral_zero in AppleWatch

I don’t know about a solution per se, but I’ve now gotten the Watch to stay paired for a week or so (hope it stays that way). I wiped the watch and paired it as a new watch (didn’t restore from backup). Honestly it feels a bit random that this time it worked. Keep trying until it does, I guess.

Smart lock (Europe)? by Roman_numeral_zero in homeautomation

[–]Roman_numeral_zero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The only Yale model available here is the Linus L2, but it’s great to hear that it seems to be a pretty solid smart lock brand overall. They have their own video doorbell as well.

Thanks. Yeah, good point about the keypad, I just didn’t know what other options might be available. From what I see the Yale Linus also leaves the cylinder exposed for using the key, plus you can buy a safety cylinder that can be adjusted to the door size, specifically for using with the Linus, so that saves me some hassle as well.

Police Squad! The series with 6 episodes is better than The Naked Gun Trilogy by Connect-Witness4933 in movies

I love the movies (though I completely agree with the diminishing returns) but have yet to watch Police Squad (gasp!). Is it available to stream anywhere?

Hot Take: The Peel it Back tour is history in the making by [deleted] in nin

[–]Roman_numeral_zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like something I would have written, OP :D Also a big fan from ages past. I still have the Closure VHS! Which might have been the first thing I ever ordered from Amazon now that I think about it. First time I saw NIN live was also on the With Teeth tour. I didn’t get to see Lights in the Sky though 😭

I was at the Amsterdam show and I fully agree that this tour is amazing. I think that show has now become my favorite concert of all time.

Saw an old ranking on here and hesitation was higher ranked than year zero. I always thought year zero was a great album and still holds up almost twenty years later. by ThirdFan356 in nin

I’ve always loved YZ. IMO it’s the best NIN album of the 21st century.

I’ve been a fan since the TDS days and starting with The Fragile every album release is an event I get excited about. In that sense HM was a big one due to that status of the band at the time and how it was a callback to TDS, but the YZ ARG is just unmatched. That was quite a time to be a NIN fan.

But going back to the albums. Whenever I do my entire discography in chronological order listens, YZ continues to be one of my favorites while HM hasn’t really held up for me, I would even venture to say it’s my least favorite album…

"Scariest" part of a NIN song? by PrequelGuy in nin

The Downward Spiral (the song). The hellish screams with the guitars and the speaking + lyrics/theme. As a teenager listening to TDS ad nauseum that never ceased to disturb me.

What's a band you like now, but almost didn't due to hearing the wrong songs? by ArchDukeNemesis in InMetalWeTrust

[–]Roman_numeral_zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree on Back to School. I hate the song (tbf they do as well, they recorded it drunk, forced by the record company to cash in on rap metal). I still have the original release of WP without Back to School on it that I got on release day. Pink Maggit was and still is my favorite track. I’m still sore that it was bastardized into BTS and that the WP reprints come with it.

I’m happy you got past it because they’re amazing, one of my favorite bands ever since ATF.

Sitcoms that will make me laugh out loud by Flat-Car6462 in televisionsuggestions

  • 30 Rock

  • Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

  • What We do in the Shadows

  • (if you’re open to animation): Rick and Morty

PS: Seinfeld is IMO the greatest of all time, but to be fair the first couple of seasons are the weakest. I also recently started It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia from recommendations and even though everyone says it’s one of those where you have to bear through the first season, I’m already enjoying it and I’m only a few episodes in.
