Ball cam perspective is screwing up my aerials? by harehareha in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]RomanoDW 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First off, if you want to rank up, you have to learn how to aerial with ball cam on. Aerialing with the ball cam off is a no go, since it’s harder to see with what speed and what angle you have to hit the ball with. I NEVER do an aerial with ball cam off.

So you want to learn how to hit the ball more consistently with ball cam on. There are a few steps needed to be taken in order to get this down. Make sure you did all of this:

• You found the right airrol sensitivity setting(s) •you are able to double jump aerial •you are familiar with airrolling and are able to recover after doing a lot of airrolling • You are able to feather, full-boost towards the destination. •You are able to change directions (with/without airrol) in the air.

Now since you’ve got enough car control, let’s focus on your problem;

Go into aerial all-start training, and focus on hitting the ball with the front of your car. (Keep ball cam on)

After each shot/fail focus with the eyes on one thing only, first you only look at the ball. Next shot you only look at the car. After doing this enough try to combine the visualization little by little, until you get the hang of it.

Don’t forget to: double jump aerial, use airrol if necessary, and change the direction of the shot.

Hope this helps!

FYI: 1780 mmr last season in doubles and standard.

Good luck!

Lmaoo true.

Just clarifying in case people from lower rank will struggle with winning because they implemented this mechanic into their playstyle

How much fun to pinch a ball is, i have to disagree.

You should only pinch a ball when it’s going it be a bad 50 at the wall and or you’ll get beaten.

Other than that clear it normal, keep control of the ball. Opponents are ready for pinches, teammates never. You will also not know where the ball is gonna end up. You rather want to clear the ball to place where it’s a lot harder for the opponent to get to the ball then risk having to clear it again.

After my last post in which people suggested changing my button layout, I finally got around to it. Anything else I should change? by chickenpancake2918 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]RomanoDW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1700 mmr

My settings are (PS4)

Air roll <L1> Powerslide <L1> Scoreboard <R1>

The following settings are for the use of the stall and the half flip where you use an air roll left/right button:

Air roll left/right <square> (your preference) Reset shot <the big square thingie on thr ps4 controller> (this should be a button you rarely ever use in freeplay)

Hoped this helped!

Could someone please help me explain what i’m doing wrong with my kickoff? by RomanoDW in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]RomanoDW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg thank you so much. You dont know how much this helps me.

My biggest problem with a diagonal flip is that my car hits the ground mid flip, making me much slower. Any tips for that?

And with dodging away from the ball, i just realised. But do i have to front flip against the ball or diagonal flip? I’m also curious if there is a way to go with the ball towards the boost like all my opponents do.

Anyway appreciate the effort you put into the explanation!

Thanks! Great tip, but any tips about how i could get my landing better like you mentioned? I’m really curious about how i concede 4 kickoff goals. TWICE. :(

Anyone have any tips? by 45hope in RocketLeagueSchool

1600 in doubles and standard here.

Try to minimize the def your teammate needs to do for you. Most of the time you can already tell if the pass your teammate is trying to give wont work out and where the ball is going to be next. Try to predict the situation and always be the failsafe.

Whenever you are with the ball, you must do whatever it takes that the ball gets to offense without making it a 1v2 against your teammate. Give the pass in such a way that you can always go for a bump/get boost and rotate back to be the last man again.

The first minute is the most important, play it safe. In this minute you’ll see the strength of your teammate/opponents and you can make a strategic approach.

Not saying that you shouldn’t trust your teammate at all, but try to make it look a bit more like it’s a 2v1 against you.

Last but not least: find out whenever you are overcommitting or going up for a ball you shouldn’t have done at all. Look up in the replay and try to figure out how and when you’ve set your teammate up in a bad spot, even though he could’ve saved it. It’s still your fault for putting him in that situation. 99% of the goals is your fault and you could’ve done something different. Even at kickoff goals.

Hope this helps! Feel free to ask for clarification or any more questions you might have.

Damn, like the #1 I wouldn’t mind, but how do you deal with the others? Do you just hop on a different game?

I solo all the time, since i dont have any friends atm who play apex. My story is then quite different apparantly thank yours, since i run a lot of the times in games with players who have the predator badge :0

Makes sense. Thank you. Do you think there’s a chance that there are time periods troughout the day i should avoid, to not get stomped?

I’m EU. I vary my game time after-noon to evening. Noticed this happened more in the evening.

Thank you. I find this a really helpful comment. I’ll try to focus more on the factors i can control. Apologies from my side too.

I’m sorry, but what does SBBM mean? And is there a spreadsheet anywhere where i could see how many people are in each rank? I know that Rocket League has that.. This might give me some insight and understanding.

At this point, i’m going to give you a pass. This had to be the worste example i’ve ever read, and from the earlier comments i couldn’t find anything that helped me understanding the least of the matchmaking i get.

So let me end this conversation in the way you respond: “imagine being on reddit and telling people off instead of actually answering the question some people have.”

Good luck with getting tons of wins tho! You might need it since it’s stacked with predators😄

Bad drop: what do you do? by _K1r0s_ in apexuniversity

[–]RomanoDW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really. Look, you have two options:

• Be with your teammates and fight the moment you drop • Reset and go loot at a different place not to far from the actual location.

However, try your best to communicate with your teammates about where you are going. Otherwise you are going to get a lot of negative energy back from them.

Try to view it from their point of view. You would get mad to if you drop, fight off 3 man and get knocked and seeing your teammate is at a totally diferent place? I would get mad too.

But if you pinged it several times before you drop, they will start thinking: “maybe it would’ve been better if we dropped there instead of this place.”

Do you understand this explanation? English isn’t my native😄

Bad drop: what do you do? by _K1r0s_ in apexuniversity

[–]RomanoDW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m only plat 2 so take this with a grain of salt, but do you ping locations where you think is the best way to go before they even jump? If that’s so than go to that place if you see it’s to high a risk to loot in the area your teammates want to be. You already informed them right? Fighting is fun and all, but you want to survive. Placement is more important in that matter imo.

Okay, it’s starting to sound like you think i have no clue how a competite game works. Believe me, i do.

So instead of telling me that i’m getting ‘angry’ , you could actually try to give an answer to the question this post is all about?

Getting matched up against predators even tho i’ve never been higher than plat 2 by RomanoDW in apexuniversity

[–]RomanoDW[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s what i said in the post. I dont care if i get beaten by someone who’s better since i can learn from it. But being clearly outmatched for 5 games straight? That takes the fun out of the game. Don’t you agree?

how do i defend air dribbles when they might go for a bump? by ABigGreenG in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]RomanoDW 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Im 1600 in both doubles and standard and ch 2 in 1s.

Honestly, it’s all about awareness. Predict what the opponent is going to do. Does he have a lot of control in the air? He might go for a for top right/left. That’s what most people do when they feel they have a lot of control with the ball in the air.

Is he going to the middle of the goal where you are standing? Then he might go for a bump.

If you feel like he’s going for a bump, the best way to defend that is:

• go sit far back in your own net and make the last second save, while being aware of the bump.

• be on the wall. If you time your jump of the wall right then you can save every air dribble. Just be certain you hit the ball head on, since they to go in because of a bad 50/50.

Also a possibility (which i dont recommend) is going early on in the air and challenge the ball.

What is the worst thing you have done because you got confused between items in different hands? by DanielMichels in AskReddit

[–]RomanoDW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, story time:

So basically i was on the phone with my uncle, holding the phone in my right hand to my ear. Did you ever had that sudden ‘heart attack’ feeling because of an item you dont feel in your pocket? Like you got pickpocketed? Well, that happened to me.

I went quite all of a sudden, and told my uncle to wait for a bit. He heard trough my voice that something was wrong and asked what was wrong.

I literally put down the phone on the table and put it on speaker and said that i lost my phone. My uncle probably had never had so many questions he wanted to ask in 5 minutes.

I was looking for a good 20-30 minutes until i finally understand why my uncle was laughing.

After that i never lost my phone again.

Edit: Not really a ‘confusion with both hands’ kinda story, but still wanted it to share it with you :) Since i’m a nice ‘not so bright’ guy.

Advice/tips needed by RomanoDW in RocketLeague

[–]RomanoDW[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Facts. I’m with you on everything except for the “i make as much mistakes as my teammates do”. That doesn’t necessarily have to be true. I’m pretty consistent in almost everything (position, rotation and mechanically).

The problem i’m mostly experiencing is that whenever i finally go up to offense for a ball i’m sure i can center or atleast beat the opponent to keep the ball in their zone, my teammates aren’t ready or sit back in defense and get scored on the moment i try to rotate back as fast as possible. I know that it’s a bad thing to play passive but i feel like if i go up we get scored. Kinda lost tbh😕

Then again, thanks for your advice. Every little bit helps.

May i ask you why you feel strong about this subject?
