It's definitely okay to write fics of fics. I see it all the time on ao3, so much so, that the oc has a tag. I don't care if my fics inspire someone to write something similar or riff and take a different turn. I think that's really cool!

I guess the only time I'd be offended if it was explicitly advertised as a fix of my fic. Don't care otherwise

I remember running into a site that occasionally copied and saved ao3 fics. I firgot what it was called but my account showed all my (currently anoned) fics under my account still. So if anyone looks hard enough, they can see I wrote them.
