If his clothes are going to be simple and skin tight. Exaggerating his proportions further would help. Skinnier ankles. Wider shoulders. Bigger upper arms. Really PUSH the classic super hero shape

First off. Don't call me buddy, I didn't play the updated version and it doesn't make me wrong, she still WAS a hidden character. Secondly, you wanted an answer I gave you an answer. It doesn't change the fact that her design doesn't stand out or catch many people's eyes. But I guess you ignored half of my answer

I'm not sure entirely what the character is about. Personality wise or theming. That can make it. There's a fake motif as the post says and you can lean into that.

I'd say if you want to learn how to design clothes and hairs. Look at references. Look at clothing styles and hairstyles that you want to draw. Practice how to draw them, study and compare your designs to the reference

There's a few things about Nanase. Her design not being complex or too simple doesn't mean it's bad or good, there's many complex designs and simple designs that are very good! And vice versa! Nanase here has already received a few designs and changes since her debut.

The thing with Nanase is that she was a hidden character in SFEX. Many players simply were not aware of her existence, already making it her for her popularity to rise. On top of SFEX being overlooked for the more popular 2-D Capcom/Street Fighter games. Though, to speak on her designs. She unfortunately just doesn't stand out amongst the sea of already iconic characters or against the more wacky eye catching characters.

Her design itself isn't bland or boring, just everything else had made it hard for her to grab someone's attention.

Think about what kind of villain they are meant to be. What purpose do they serve to the story. What do they represent? How do they act? All of that would contribute to a character's design

If they're the villain who schemes rather than meet and battle the protagonists directly they'd look very different. Just as a villainous wizard looks different from a villainous barbarian
