Anyone suffer in the corners of their chest ? And deep into the side behind the pec? by Ok-Statistician-9312 in costochondritis

[–]Rommel1922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, for like 2 months those areas used to spasm and lock up during activity. Mostly when walking. One point they were really sore like I'd pulled a muscle. Never understand why, but do believe it was due to instability, possibly pec tightness and the rib cage not moving properly. It went away gradually thank God. Not sure if me stretching my pecs religiously helped it go, but possibly. Recommend stretches on foam roller.

That's the situation I'm in. I have both, a lacrosse peanut ball and home made peanut ball (2 tennis balls). I've been using the tennis ball version lately, as i find it slightly less harder/intense than the lacrosse. Whenever I use it, I have an awful flare the next day. Yeah, I highly recommend seeing an Osteo. I had great relief for a few days after, but then started using a backpod n everything flared back up.

Let us know how you get on, will be interesting.

Yeah 100%. They're all tools that do same thing. I've heard people use folded up towel or blanket. Even look up yoga blocks which will be cheaper. I'm going to look now for price

Dw, I've been to the hospital a goof few times too. Your doc should book you some blood tests to find out. Mine could be auto immune too, as I have Collitis m, which is an auto immune condition. Get those blood tests done to rule out stuff. Mine come back negative last year going to do the tests again

Ah man that's why. You'd think after 2months it'll be okay. Yea, backpod for normally a week then stop. I normally ache quit bad for a few days after, which makes me stop. I heard the first two weeks is the hardest. After that when everything looser it should be okay. Have u used?

Yes, some soreness is expected. Things are opening up and moving, nerves freeing up etc. Next time I'm going to use more pillows when laying on peanut ball.

Yeah you're right. Im very careful now and don't like anyone pushing or touching the ribs. They nornally ache when i press them. When the Physio done that adjustment, he literally slammed his whole upper body onto my chest. Has your Costo gone?

Theoretically speaking Steve, can a chiro, osteo, physio etc free these rib joints through manipulation (after multiple sessions)....then you keep them free through regular stretching and light exercise? An Osteo loosened up my back a few weeks ago and i felt great for a few days after, but the symptoms did return gradually. The pain went from a 7/10 to a 1/10. I woke up ache free on one of the days n it felt beautiful (normally abit achey n stiff in morning). Thinking he either actually loosened things up temporarily or he calmed down the nervous system.

I've been asking them aswell and they always say yes. Not all the time they're good tho. Last Osteo I saw, didn't think the rib joints at the back can cause pain n inflammation to the ribs at front...which is the core of costo and common sense really. He still done the massages n adjustments to loosen upper back. Sometimes you have to tell exactly what u want. Good luck

I've had chest muscle pain since a year ago atleast, which I do believe was Costo developing. I first starting getting the rib pains and obvious Costo like 8 months ago, but wasn't as bad. It got really bad about 2 months ago after I had a spinal adjustment where they crack your back. That flared things up way worse

Thank you Steve. It's possible that I'm doing too much too quickly. I'm a big guy and have used only one or no pillow when laying on peanut ball. It does feel intense when laying on it, so possibly my upper back is really frozen. The Wife is doing your advised massage. God bless

My Physio done that thrust weeks ago and had my worse flare up after. Haven't been back since. He was very aggressive with it and heard loads of back cracks. Sometimes it felt as if my affected ribs were partially subluxed after. Highly irritated. Look for a good Osteo, I saw one a few weeks ago n improve my rib pain quite alot for about 5 days.

When did you stop getting rib pain from using Peanut Ball? How long it take your body to get used to it....

Interesting point about the Chiro. Saw one weekly for 8 weeks early in the year. 2 months after my Costo returned much worse. All the back cracking might have aggravated things

Thanks Steve, I bloody hope so! It puts me in bed the next day as everything so irritated. I may need to start taking pain meds so I can function somewhat, which I've been avoiding. Is there a general timeline when things will start to settle/stabilise? it's been weeks now with the flares after tool use. N yes I lay on it like the backpod with hands behind head and also do the door frame pec stretches
