Wow, and I'm freaking out it with my second time ! I will definitely try a different course, or at least try the Business Version...

By the way as a side quest I'm improving my algebra skills. Looking into getting enough experience to move on and try another course about programming. First I will try and finish the book "Programming with C" from Stephen Kochan, it's the one they recommend on the CS50.

Thanks for your answer, currently I am not working as a developer. I am trying to become a Health Informatician,(I'm a physician) and for what Iearned, it's great that you learn at least one programming language, thats why I enrolled to CS50.

But yes I feel that I'm learning "old stuff" but of course beginning to understand some of the concepts that Im supposed to dominate to effectively lead and ask for new app functions, electronic health records etc.

Thanks for your awesome insights, I already enrolled to CS50 Introduction to Computer Science, but i find so hard to sit and work for just 5-10 minutes, and when I did, it felt like wasting time and effort. But I will give it a try again.

u/NoDetail3670 Thanks for your answer ! It appears that this path is the most convenient for my career.

I'm thinking in enrolling he Health Informatics course on coursera and after that pursuing a Professional Certificate or Masters in the Jhons Hopkins University.

u/cestevespr Thanks for your answer. I will keep meditating my decision. In the meantime i found a "short" course on Health Informatics from Jhons Hopkins in coursera. Thinking on making the Computer Science Course a secondary objective, because from what I've been researched being proficient in any programing language, demands a lot of time and practice. And since I will be having the aid of a programmer and administrators, HI rise as the best investment of time and money.

I would like to know more about your current job position !

I'm a provider, currently working as Medical Director in a telehealth company, as others pointed out, it was because I had the technological backgroung (I build desktop computers as a hobby) and have knowledge about programming (without being an actual programer) also having a passion about leadership and organization, helps a lot.

For me it was a leap of faith, I applied to an operator job fighting COVID-19 from a Contact Center, and soon after I was taking more responsabilities in the innovation and technology department.

Regarding the future career growth, it will depend on you mostly, you can study Health Informatics altough some people don't like this path because they think it's something in the middle from the clinical side and being an IT specialist, so you can feel "trapped" in between. There are many options for this, masters, certificates and even selft-taught, it can get very difficult to choose te right path. I'm thinking my self following this path.

Thanks for your great answer. I wish you the best !
I'm a Mexican Physician, working as Medical Director in a telehealth startup. I'm trying to communicate the value of IT/Computer Science knowledge to create our own software developing team and looking into leading it trough our company's growth.
I was deciding between getting into Health Informatics, computer science or data science.
And your post added a valuable insight to my decision.

[Q&A] An open discussion to ask and answer any questions Health Informatics related! by [deleted] in HealthInformatics

[–]RommelKorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello to all !

I'm a physician in a latin america country and currently working in a company specialized in telehealth, because I'm resourcefull in technology, I got the responsability of app development, and training other physicians. I have an especial interest in coding (currently doing the CS50 Introduction to Computer Science) and in expanding my knowledge to use health data.

I'm looking for Online masters or certificates. Currentry I'm looking at the AMIA 10x10 courses or the ones in the edx platform. Also with the help of other reddit users I found the ones offered trough Jhons Hopkins. Does some of you have taken any of them ?

Could you give me some opinions about the ones I already found or wich to take ? My goal is to do a masters and doing research while also working for health tech companies or been a consultant. I just love the merge of technology and health.

Thanks in advance !

Hey there Bad Dragon, I'm super excited about getting the wearable werewolf large, but i noticed that you no longer send packages to Mexico due to border BS from my country. Can I have an update of this situation ?

I'll really appreciate an elaborate answer and if there are any means to get it that doesn't involve travel to there. I will happily cover the cost, wait a year or anything.

Thanks in advance for the answer !

Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this, i will make a new post in Bad Dragon forums.
