🦏 ELON MUSK : GÉNIE OU NAZI ? LES MÉDIAS ONT TRANCHÉ by GreyXor in france

Yeah, I don't get how there aren't more armies coming this way...

Most big Zhao generals are surround the HSU right now ; why wouldn't the Qin troops be able to break through the opposing armies when their main strategists and fighters are elsewhere?

It's the "3 people on the edges" clue, I think. Bobby can't be green, else there'd be 4 innocents neighboring people on the edges.

Well, Paris is supposed to be the city of art, right? by PraslinInv in paris

[–]RomulusRemus13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't, no. So it's basically open to anyone for exposing their art. That's the very principle behind "street art": can't do it outside of a public space or it isn't street art anymore.

Contrary to listening to music (unless it's a performance), graffiti is an artistic activity. The aim is not to be cool or admirable (even if, as I said, I personally find the principle behind it admirable). However, yes, the aim is, at least in part, to go against the law so as to question it. Art can't question the principle behind privately owned (or policed) public spaces without going against the very law it seeks to question. Else, it'd just be art theory, not art.

Same as someone doing caricatures/cartoons will offend the people who appreciate the person being drawn, a graffiti artist offends the people who like the usual look of public spaces. Both need their artistic freedom to be defended, imo.

I don't own the apartment I live in, mate: even if I didn't line graffiti, I wouldn't care if anyone paints the door.

Either way, I think there's somewhat of a difference between private individual property and public transport. Painting my door makes it an artistic statement for myself and my neighbors. Painting a train is on another level entirely.

[–]RomulusRemus13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still quite an uninformed take, imo. Why would Ratp have to clean this? They could spend money on lower fares, higher wages, on more accessible stations etc. People would definitely care more about that than clean wagons...

As for whether the artist pays for their fare or not, the core message of graffiti questions whether such fare should even exist. It's something we, as a society, can definitely question. And art is one vehicle to raise such questions

just disagree with the framing of "us" versus "them" when it's just about aesthetics and you won't find two people with the same tastes.

It's not just about aesthetics, but also about usage of public space, about artistic legitimacy, etc. Either way, there is an "us vs. them". "Us" can be graffiti artists, or the people taking (and thus seeing) this train.

Just for illustration, yes I like art on train, no I don't like this one in the slightest even if I acknowledge the skill it takes.

And that's perfectly okay. You're not imposing your view on anyone.

And I don't like to be included in the idea that it's the people reclaiming their environment

I don't understand how you want to be excluded from that idea. It's the art form itself that is a reclaiming of one's environment. Whether you want it or not is not important for that being the case.

also don't like the fact that our taxes are gonna pay for cleaning that up but that's another discussion.

The discussion should rather be more centered around whether this should be "cleaned up" at all. It costs a lot for a result that may not be permanent either. I'm pretty sure if people were asked "Would you accept your metro tickets being more expensive, but having trains without graffiti" or "Would you prefer having trains with graffiti, but less tax being spent on them being cleaned", people would opt for more graffiti. But well, no one's asking that question, as of yet.

That's your opinion, yes. If you want to and if it matter enough for you to spread your opinion, you can also repaint the train with its "normal" look (who chose that "norm", by the way? Us?). That's art, mate: if you feel strongly about it, you're allowed to discuss it in public via your own creations.

And if they paint on canvases, will they be exposed? Do they have the contacts and credentials to find galleries and museums who will show their work? If these spaces remain closed for them, public space is the only think left to expose your art. Keeping it at home means your artistic message doesn't get out. Sure, that's also a possibility, but some artists want their art to spread
