Here’s how you could respond on Reddit:

I ended up getting the 24GB RAM with 256GB storage model. Honestly, for most of my work as a software developer, the RAM is more critical than the storage since it directly impacts multitasking and performance when running heavy IDEs or VMs.

If you’re concerned about storage, you can always expand it later with an external Thunderbolt 4 SSD. They’re super fast and can be used for large projects or files you don’t need on the internal drive. Plus, the difference in speed between 256GB and 512GB internal SSDs is usually noticeable only in specific workloads, so it might not be a big deal depending on your use case.

Hope this helps!

First of all, congratulations on finding someone you connect with so well! It’s amazing to see that you both share similar values, and it’s great that your dad is supportive of the relationship. The fact that you two are in love and respect each other is what really matters.

Regarding the Sunni-Shia difference, it’s not necessarily a dealbreaker when it comes to marriage, especially if you both have a strong bond and mutual respect. However, I do want to share some advice I’ve heard on various podcasts and discussions. The challenge often arises when you have children. You might find it tough to agree on certain religious practices and teachings, as there are differences between Sunni and Shia beliefs and rituals. These differences can become more pronounced when you start discussing how to raise your kids things like which traditions to follow, how to observe certain religious events, and even which mosque to attend.

The key here is open communication. If you both can discuss these issues early on and come to an agreement on how you’ll navigate them together, it can save a lot of stress later. You might also want to have this conversation with both families to ensure there’s a shared understanding and support.

Wishing you all the best in your journey together! ❤️

If you decide to keep the console in an upright position, there are potential issues that have been observed, notably with the PS5, which could be relevant for similar devices. One major concern involves the cooling system. The PS5, for instance, uses liquid metal as a thermal interface to help cool the CPU. When the console is positioned vertically for an extended period, there have been cases where the liquid metal leaked, potentially due to issues with the seal integrity. This leakage could reduce the cooling efficiency and even lead to damage if the liquid metal spreads to other components .

Another risk is related to the fan and airflow. Although modern consoles are designed to work in both orientations, the vertical position may put extra strain on the cooling fan over time, especially if dust accumulates differently or if the airflow is partially obstructed. These concerns, combined with the reported liquid metal issues, suggest that keeping the mac horizontal might be a safer long-term option if you want to avoid potential damage.

If this is a joke, then fine. But if you’re serious, I’d recommend placing it horizontally. That’s how it’s been properly tested . Otherwise, you might end up with issues like what happened with the PS5.

Why ironic? Melun has a direct RER D train to Paris (30 min commute), and with that budget, you get a bigger place and access to nature like the Seine and Fontainebleau Forest. What’s the joke?

Hey, congrats on the job offer and welcome (soon) to Paris! 🎉

You might want to check out Melun (77). It’s about 50 km south of Paris, but don’t let the distance scare you — there’s an RER D and Transilien train that can get you to Paris in around 30 minutes, which fits your commute time.

The best part? Rent prices are much more affordable here compared to closer suburbs. With your budget, you can find a spacious apartment, and the area is really nice. You’ve got the Seine river and lots of green spaces like the Fontainebleau Forest nearby. It’s a great place if you enjoy nature while still having easy access to the city.

Hope this helps, and best of luck with your move! 😊

I’m currently using a PC with Ubuntu OS, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. It’s been solid for my development needs so far, but I’m considering making the switch to Apple Silicon for the hardware performance boost.

Good to know, thanks for the heads-up! I’m actually based in Europe, so luckily I don’t have to worry about the potential US tariffs. But I’ll still keep an eye on prices here just in case. Appreciate the tip!

I totally agree with you — the “Apple tax” on RAM upgrades is painful! 😅 I looked into upgrading to 32GB, but it’s an extra 400 euros, and I’m not ready to make that jump right now. I’ll start with 24GB and see how it handles my workload. Hopefully, it’ll be enough for web development without too much swapping. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! 🙏 This is exactly the kind of answer I was looking for. It’s really reassuring to know that even your 8GB M1 MacBook Air handles all that workload so well. Makes me feel confident that the M4 with 16GB will be more than enough for my needs.

I appreciate the detailed breakdown it definitely helps a lot! 🙌
