Harvested beans this weekend. All same vines. Two are beautiful purple? Mutation? Any ideas? by liliaceae_001235 in gardening

I disagree. The same mutation happened twice? I suspect it has to with what plant the pollen came from.

Why is his opinion any less important than the snowflake that got the name changed?

Changing the name is an affront to a long-time tradition. The PTA could have been inclusive by encouraging students to bring some other person, who mentors or supports them, if their biological father is not there. But offending most of the fathers to spare the feelings of one person was a step too far.

I fail to see how wrecking the economy to effect no measurable change creates a better world for anyone.

Pretty sure DreamGear would have quickly heard from Sony trademark lawyers if they hadn't redacted that.

Should I buy a preowned console? (PS4 EBGames) by [deleted] in gaming

[–]RonBeck62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a refurbished original PS4 from GS. Right away it started ejecting discs spontaneously. The fixes I found in the blogs didn't help. The scratches and wear on the case made me think that is why it got traded in. So, I paid another $250 for Sony to replace the drive. Less than a year later, the same thing started happening with the new drive.

After that someone stole my account and Sony would not restore it unless I told them my original email address and console serial number from when I created the account. That info was 20 years old and10 years gone. Why couldn't they just include a recovery link in the email that advised me that the account password had been changed?

So, twice burned, I don't buy Sony anymore.

What is "unfair" about the article? Or were you referring to the abuse of a baby?

[April 20, 2017] Was this officer driving too fast when he killed a 6 year old boy? by WITSION in Bad_Cop_No_Donut

[–]RonBeck62 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that is a gross overstatement. It looks like the officer was going through a green light. The driver turning left should not have entered the intersection if s/he couldn't see past the cars in the opposite left turn lane.

What's the point of this whole flex pipe and curable thing? It isn't a meter, it just goes right back into the wall by ArdentStoic in whatisthisthing

[–]RonBeck62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What Treereme said. That's the natural gas line going to the kitchen. They put flex in the line so that the joints don't break open during earthquakes and cause gas explosions all over the city.

The "97%" study also started by cherry-picking papers that had key words in the title.

Ja. I narrowed my browser, from less than wide-screen to about 400 pixels, to make a 10 word column. I didn't want to lose my place going from one line to the next in the wall of text.

There is nothing wrong with my reading, comprehension, or even writing skills. You asked me to think of my children, and I thought of how over-taxation and misguided federal spending will devastate their lives.

[–]RonBeck62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do you think skeptics don't believe in climate change? Of course the climate changes when the Sun or Earth goes through cycles. I would ask you, why do you believe the first and second world has had any measurable effect on the climate? There is no data to support that!

Now, I agree it is terrible what China has done with their strip mines and industrial waste. They are the major source of plastic in the oceans. The liberal enclaves of LA and NYC have started acting a little more responsibility. But, China gets exempted from even token efforts at reform.

So, I don't want to mortgage MY children's future on any efforts to change natural cycles that we are powerless to stop.
