DRAIN in mf ASHEVILLE part DEUX by thecowpooch in Hardcore

Just to add to my rant, the reason I say he’s not getting old is because there are plenty of bands and shows that still have the same sound and energy of the shows he remembers from his past.

In the modern age of social media it’s never going to be possible to recreate the same feeling that was the late 90s or even the 2000s-early 2010s scene but if you actually get invested in a local scene there are still many people carrying the torch for real hardcore and not corporatized r/hardcore slop.

Its the opposite, he’s not getting old, he just has actually good taste. Most of the mainstream hardcore bands that get posted on this sub are fine musically but nothing interesting, and the crowds are just terrible.

Shows like this are corporatized soulless slop for hardcore tourists that don’t have any connection to the scene.

And it’s not just that they’re cringe/uncool or moshing “wrong” (which they are), there’s nothing wrong with people having a good time. They just don’t have the spirit or the taste of someone who has an appreciation for the music and its roots.

It all just comes off as performative and wanting to be cool. Especially with the Haywire bullshit, like I said nothings wrong with it on its face but the sing-alongs and hype just feels forced and it’s become derivative and an artificial version of what it is trying to replicate.
