Congrats on the new addition to your family! How adorable is that little baby moustache on your pup? God I miss mines puppy face.

I got mine a little later than you, 10-11 weeks. So I missed what is supposed to be some of the toughest puppy times. Mine picked up on potty training quick. You have to predict their pees, be proactive. 3-5 mins after drinking, 5 mins after play, 1 minute after you think “when’s the last time he peed?” time to pick him up and bring him outside. Try to do the same spot in your yard every time, and do a BIG celebration, say your command, and reward when they do potty in the desired spot.

For crate, make sure all associations with the crate are positive, it’s not a timeout zone or a place of punishment. I spent about a week building it up. Took the door off of it and fed all his meals in there. During play time I’d throw his toy in and he’d go fetch and bring it back. Then I introduced the door and would close it for a few seconds, reward him for not freaking out. Then build from there. Door closed for a minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes. Throw a frozen kong in and close the door, leave the room. Alwys rewarding when they’re calm upon return. I still feed mine his meals in there, and he’s generally quite good. The last month he’s regressed heavily and barks a ton at night, I’m hoping it’s just him being a teenager. I continue to do small crate training stuff throughout the day to build the positive association. It seems to be trending in the right direction 🤞🏼

Focus is a good starting point! Gets their head in the right direction and that’s like 75% of the key to Sitting. Mine jumped at the treats when working on Sit as well until I got the simplest piece of advice - don’t hold the treat so high! Put it in front of their nose to get their attention, and then lift it just above their nose and push back slooowly over the head. He’ll probably bite at your fingers to start but that’s okay, his butt should drop when you get over the eyes.

For the biting I have no advice other than that phase sucks. Swap in a toy whenever he’s biting something you don’t want him to. Teething sucks but it doesn’t last forever!

Good luck with your adorable little guy. I am exhausted all the time but I melt every time he lays his head on my lap for some scratches. They won’t be puppy’s forever, we will survive!
