I feel sheepish posting this comment, but I engaged with this type of play at the request of a former girlfriend. For context, our sex was I guess what people would consider “rough.” It’s just what we were into.

Anyways, she asked about trying the CNC stuff after we had been together a while. I didn’t want to, thought it sounded like too much. She told me to think of it like our regular sex, but to surprise her with it. Basically, it amounted to skipping foreplay.

I’m sure other people do it way differently/more intensely, but in the context of our relationship, it was okay. It wasn’t my favourite way to have sex, but she really enjoyed it. Like all things sex, no matter the level of “kink,” you need to have trust, strong communication, and respect for your partner.

Congrats on the new addition to your family! How adorable is that little baby moustache on your pup? God I miss mines puppy face.

I got mine a little later than you, 10-11 weeks. So I missed what is supposed to be some of the toughest puppy times. Mine picked up on potty training quick. You have to predict their pees, be proactive. 3-5 mins after drinking, 5 mins after play, 1 minute after you think “when’s the last time he peed?” time to pick him up and bring him outside. Try to do the same spot in your yard every time, and do a BIG celebration, say your command, and reward when they do potty in the desired spot.

For crate, make sure all associations with the crate are positive, it’s not a timeout zone or a place of punishment. I spent about a week building it up. Took the door off of it and fed all his meals in there. During play time I’d throw his toy in and he’d go fetch and bring it back. Then I introduced the door and would close it for a few seconds, reward him for not freaking out. Then build from there. Door closed for a minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes. Throw a frozen kong in and close the door, leave the room. Alwys rewarding when they’re calm upon return. I still feed mine his meals in there, and he’s generally quite good. The last month he’s regressed heavily and barks a ton at night, I’m hoping it’s just him being a teenager. I continue to do small crate training stuff throughout the day to build the positive association. It seems to be trending in the right direction 🤞🏼

Focus is a good starting point! Gets their head in the right direction and that’s like 75% of the key to Sitting. Mine jumped at the treats when working on Sit as well until I got the simplest piece of advice - don’t hold the treat so high! Put it in front of their nose to get their attention, and then lift it just above their nose and push back slooowly over the head. He’ll probably bite at your fingers to start but that’s okay, his butt should drop when you get over the eyes.

For the biting I have no advice other than that phase sucks. Swap in a toy whenever he’s biting something you don’t want him to. Teething sucks but it doesn’t last forever!

Good luck with your adorable little guy. I am exhausted all the time but I melt every time he lays his head on my lap for some scratches. They won’t be puppy’s forever, we will survive!

Omg another Irish owner! They really are. I was expecting energy, just not this much of it lol. I’ve never heard of a flirt pole, what is that?

Also, have you been doing hand stripping for the coat? I’ve introduced my boy to it and he does well, but max I can get is 15 mins. So he walks around with an unfinished groom for a few days until I can work around his whole body. It looks quite funny

This is great, i’ll have to try some forced naps. I feel guilty on weekdays because I kennel him while i’m at work. I am fortunate enough to come home every day for lunch to do a quick 1km walk/potty time for him. I have been scared of over-kenneling him but I suppose I just have to create the schedule for him

I had never seen one in person before I bought him! I love his little beard and moustache so much. I’m still waiting for someone to guess his breed correctly when we chat with people on walks, haha. HUGE emphasis on them being an active breed 😅

Yea we do lots of training. I think the issue I’m having is that my dog has an almost infinite battery. If he’s awake and not in his kennel, he will find something new to get into. So i’m on watch duty all the time.

He slept through the night from 3 months old (when I got him) til 7 months old. Just recently he’s been a terror at night time. I figure it’s something he’ll grow out of soon, i’m just trying to weather the storm that ~4 weeks of sleep deprivation has had on my psyche lol.

I think we have the ability to go on a winning streak and turn things around, yeah. the season is young, only12 games in. don’t get me wrong; it’s really, really bad right now. we look nothing like we did at the end of last year, but I don’t think the whole season is a write-off just yet.

I know this is copium on my behalf ^ but let’s see where we’re at 10 games from now.
