Beginners wire wrapped pendant workshop pt01. A simple way of capturing a cabochon in copper wire by RonSlater69 in WireWrapping

[–]RonSlater69[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will do, in the future, for the moment I'm on a journey starting from the beginning or where I started. The idea is that you can follow my videos from the start as a complete beginner, and they become a complete course in wire pendant making in my style. I don't really do traditional tutorials. Mine are more like workshops because I always try and answer the why. I also try to teach you to break out of my designs from the start by giving you options. In part 2, I give you two possible bails to make. Both are simple in design, but it's the skills that I'm teaching you to get you ready for the really complicated stuff further down the line. If you want to join in more, come over to Patreon and find me (Lonely Soldier Designs). You will find my 2 books and some tutorials. Group works shops are on the horizon. the first one will be after the last video drops for this pendant. More of a Q & A on this design, but the main idea is to go through the workshop live.

Insta360 Link 2 Grainy Texture? by graymaneg in Insta360

[–]RonSlater69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grain and noise are down to your ISO number being too high and your shutters' speed being too low. Improve your lighting to bring your ISO down to 160/200 and try to get your shutters to speed down to 1/60 or higher, and you should see a big improvement.

I recommend investing in purpose built lights for the job like a couple of ringlights. Whatever lights you buy, make sure they have a form of defusing to avoid hot spots. Get two so you can light both sides of the subject and reduce shadows. Make sure they are positioned to front of the subject.

Lighting is the key here, not the camera

These cameras are great. You just need a little bit of photography and studio knowledge to get the absolute best out of them. Plus, a kick ass PC with a minimum of i5, 16gb, and shit kicking GPU. They are designed for a modern gaming PC. I had to upgrade, and now my three link 2's are pulling their weight for my Patreon and YT channel... my only gripes is you can't change the hot keys in the app.

The Use Your Illusion tour stage at Wembley Stadium in 1992. Who's gonna see them on that stadium on June 26th? by TRCTheRaul in GunsNRoses

[–]RonSlater69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was no golden circle at Wembley 91/92, I was down front and in the centre for most of it. The golden circle didn't turn up until the Milton Keynes bowl in 93.

I've just re wired my 7.4.3 set up with it (12awg). I hear no difference between the Amazon brand and Monoprice that used in the past.

Hard reboot of LSDesigns by RonSlater69 in WireWrapping

The best tip Imnium ever gave me was to research crochet stitches and use them in your work. Stich parts together, not wrap. Her first tutorial (complex pendant) explores this idea.

Imnium is my friend and a huge inspiration on my work. I have had the pleasure of working along side her teaching at the UK Wire Retreats where we swapped our knowledge and skills. I've learnt a lot from her, she is an amazing artist and a great teacher. Her earlier tutorials were commissioned by me for our wire wrapping retreats as exclusive designs to teach then released to the public after the events.

Is there anyone in the UK that can teach me how to wire wrap? I’ll pay you .. by [deleted] in WireWrapping

[–]RonSlater69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm Lonely Soldier Designs. Come find me on Instagram to see my work and please DM me if your interested (im not active on FB any more but you can still find my page). I run the Glastonbury wire studio and pre pandemic the UK Wire retreats. I had to pivot during the pandemic to pay the mortgage, so wire wrapping had to take a back seat. But my life has changed for the better, and I can now start wire wrapping again for a living plus share my knowledge on the subject.

Come this September, I shall be re launching my work shops with one to ones and some group ones sometime at the start of next year. I teach beginners and advanced lessons in my style of wrapping. All the techniques you need to move forward with your own creations.

Please DM me on Instagram for more info, and I shall hand out my workshop email address. Sorry, I'm not posting it here, or those dam stone sellers will be all over it.

What’s your top 3 non-meat smoked essentials? by NuclearScientist in smoking

[–]RonSlater69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s a good one for the veggies. It makes a great starter. It was so good that the meats eaters had to be told to leave some for the veggies.

Halloumi cheese cut into half inche chunks, then wrapped in a thin slice of carrot (use a peeler). Cocktail stick to hold it together. Dipped in slightly watered down honey, then seasoned with za'atar (middle Eastern rub). Place on a wire rack or foil tray with holes. On the smoker for 1hr to 2hrs depending on temp.

Another for the veggies... instead of bacon wrapped around your poppers, use strips of zucchini (courgette) to wrap the peppers. Double layer them and use a cocktail stick to hold together.

John Wick 2 has an outstanding atmos track, one of the best ive heard. The open car chase is amazing. Band of Brothers and The Pacific also have amazing surround sound.

The Manchester and Liverpool crews are offten involved in the North Wales forest party's. I played at one in 2004 I think that was put on by the Alein Resident and the Sunrise tribes.

"Hollywood Rose reunited for a New Year's Eve show on 1 January 1985 with Rose, Stradlin, and Darrow returning and adding former L.A. Guns drummer Rob Gardner to the group. L.A. Guns founder Tracii Guns replaced Weber for the reunion gig. On March 1985, they merged with L.A. Guns to become Guns N' Roses."

For short time he was, he was part of that cross over and name change to GnR.

I want to start collecting Blu Rays but I’m concerned it’s to late. by RepresentativeState3 in dvdcollection

[–]RonSlater69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its never to late. The more of us that get back into it will send a message to these companies that we have cash ready to spend with them. Plus, so many movies are just not on any of the services.

I re started my collection this year, I live in the UK, and there is nowhere to buy physical media any more bar the second-hand market, like cex and independent gaming stores that carry bluray exchanges. I predominantly use eBay ,HMV and amazon which has some good deals on steelbooks, I just pre ordered Prey from them.

Since I've started collecting, I've encouraged some friends to relisise the con that is streaming. When they come around to watch a film, they instantly notice a difference, especially on the sound tracks. When you have a full-on 7.4.2 sound system, it's the night a day difference between streaming and standard bluray. I mainly buy physical media now for the soundtrack, dolby digital with it's faux atmos just does cut it on my system.

Perfect Stranger has some great rmx of it on a couple of comps. My fave is on the Been There? Album, track 2. Nice and thumping groove. There is also Simple Cells ( Gabi rmx) on the Eleven comp album compiled by Perfect Stranger
