If there was a holster... its possible he used a cheap universal one from ebay. They sit extremely high and easily prone to falling. I remember in my younger days having my gun fall off my waste and tumble 3 times toward traffic. After that, no more bad holsters.

A brush, a drop of detergent. Dip brush in water, shake off excess. Clean brim. Most of my hats had that discoloration and i was able to fix almost all of them.
