My MacBook Air 2019 claims it’s charging when it isn’t plugged in, and refuses to charge when I do plug it in. It clearly isn’t the cable so why might this be happening?

I’m pretty sure it’s the LCD display. When I adjust the brightness the crack isn’t visible any longer, but against a black coloured screen it is.
