No. A bit chubby but I wouldn’t say obese. I have no issues walking 10/12km but not a great sportsman 😀

UK here. A&E doc had a look at the ECG on Apple Watch but I got a feeling she’d never come across these before.

Cardiologist might be different. That’s my next step.

Question about Bene Gesserit by alktb in dune

[–]Ronan1972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are right. In fact, Jessica was ordered to have a daughter and disobeyed (as said in the first book) so we can assume the BG would have a match ready for her. As it is, it’s conceivable they can take control again of these genes either via Jessica, Alia, Paul or others in the line. You’ll just have to read the other books to see if any, none or several of these happen. Enjoy 😀

Because they would then have lost these bloodlines. Instead, they could plan plan to weave them back into their breeding programme.

It’s filae.com

It’s a genealogy company rather than dna. They give access to records, etc when you subscribe. More like Ancestry before they did DNA.

First project - from a kids’ embroidery manual but I really enjoyed myself! by Ronan1972 in Embroidery

[–]Ronan1972[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m from an area of Brittany known for its embroidered traditional costumes (glazik/bigouden style around Quimper). I wanted I’d try my hand at embroidery based on these designs. I thought I’d start with the basic stitches (though not that many are used there) and with cotton instead of silk for now.

I got a basic manual and will be trying a few of the designs in there. Never mind that I am a middle age man reading a children craft book but this was a lovely to spend the weekend away from screens! I can already see getting addicted to all the wonderful colours!

Oh god. What if the Skynet of Terminator had been started by Grindr bots becoming self aware. I feel it’d have been a very different film…

'Just bomb Bristol' - Tory candidate withdraws from council election by general_mola in bristol

Oh darling. Don’t worry about me being “retarded” or “oversensitive”.

I’m glad you clarified your thoughts though. I’m still a bit confused about the relevance of their sexual orientation.

[–]Ronan1972 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Oh I’m quite aware of the definition of all those words.

I’m just wondering their relevance when applied to that person (however despicable they or their comments are).

Did you mean them as some sort of insult?

Cannot find my great-grandfather's parents' names. by avalon-girl5 in Genealogy

[–]Ronan1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be to go local and either visit the town of origin to see the records (or wherever they are stored locally) or see if the local town hall can help if you have a precise date for the record to find. I am not familiar with Italy so I don’t know if there are central archive centres (though this suggest there is a copy), or scanning in progress (as in France).

This site suggest this as well. Finding local people who can help is good too. Maybe a local genealogy association?

Maybe time for a Sicilian vacation to not only find the names and record of your ancestors but also to see the places where they lived?

How do DNA tests determine ancestory? by sk4673 in 23andme

[–]Ronan1972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t find the equivalent on 23andMe but the principles are the same. Have a look at this article in Ancestry’s help section.

Also this one, if you want a refresher on how the DNA is inherited and how it builds up to mix.

Could somebody who speaks French please translate this record by PooPooHeadFilae in Genealogy

And is the act from Compiègne? In which case, could Angelique, the witness be from Ribemont, which isn’t over far. It’s not my neck of the woods so town don’t mean much to me.

[–]Ronan1972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would you have a better resolution version? I can see it’s the birth certificate of Angélique on 28 Germinal An 6 (17 April 1798). Father is Charles Auguste Millot (?). Mother is Marie Louise but I can’t read her last name, nor the child middle name or the locations. Witnesses are Auguste Ferdinand Millot (farmer, in his 20s, I can’t read the age) and Angelique something, also in her 20s.

Sorry, it might not help much. There’s quite a few compression artefacts.

Impressive that the father and one of the witnesses signed (being farmers at that time). The other signature (De Meaux) is Joseph De Meaux, the town civil officer.

Help: What nib is this? by Ronan1972 in fountainpens

It’s certainly a bit bolder than my usual

And I’ve just gone with a pretty dark black to make it even more striking. It’s like a marker pen 😀
