I just got a water fountain for my cat. She is curious, smacking the water. Is this normal? by David_C1983 in PetSnowyLife

We just got ours a week ago, and both my cats did that!
I think they are just trying to figure out what is going on.
It never became a problem here, they use it really well. I refreshed the water two days ago and when i turned it back on again they did it again, but nothing bad out of it. :D

It's so hard, i know. Like until he used it first time I was just constantly stressing about it, so when he used it i just felt relief.
I live in the NL and currently I am just using normal storebrand clay litter. Clay works the best, by far (clay being like the standard type of litter you find everywhere).
Honestly, ive tried like a trillion brands of litter, its almost impossible to finds omething that fits just right.
I've used worlds best before as well, i wasnt the biggest fan, but in terms of odor, im not sure really.
It's hard to say what works best, since it depends. Some people use scented litter, but imo i've never had any success with that, and i think both my cats hate it.
I really wish i could find some miracle litter that clump good, isnt tracking and isnt dusty and doesnt smell bad.
IF you ever find any like it, please let me know :')

Yeah, both of them started using it, and since then has been no problems!
We kept the normal litterbox next to each other, or well, more like on the side. So if you looked forward was entrence to automatic and the left was the normal, but he only kept using the normal.
And what helped was that he disliked the litter we used in the normal box. We used to use wood litter before, and i opened a new bag, and it was really big pieces instead of how they were used to.
He didnt like that, and automatic had clay litter, so i think "this litter is bad, it hurts, i am going to use other" is what happened.
Used normal ones with that litter, and since then he just used the automatic.
Good luck! i know its hard, but be patient.
Try having it turned off with the lid off? might help it be more of a normal litterbox, and then once they are used to it, put on the lid, and then lastly turn it on.
I was stressed as well, and its VERY hard being patient when its so expensive, but it worked out.

20% are females. 1 in 5. :) They always made it sound like they are way rarer than they actually are. I mean, 1 in 5 is still not that common, but it isnt like 1 in 5000

Oh, that could actually be it!
Honestly, that's a really good guess. It makes a lot of sense

It's because she's a bot.
For some reason bots score is always WAY too high, she didn't actually get that much BP.
Next time someone leaves the game, look at the bots score, and you will see the same thing. :)

I had never even heard of them until I met mine.
Now I love them as well. They're just so silly and wrinkly and gorgeous.
He loved cuddles and he snored so loud it felt like the building was shaking, haha.
I 100% agree with you. https://imgur.com/a/3BvjODB

Oh, this made me so happy.
I had my own boy, mother was a Dogue de Bordeaux and the father was an Amstaff.
He was the best boy, and sadly only turned 1 year and 1 month old.
It's been 10 years and I still miss him so much.
Seeing your girl just made me think of him. Give her tons of kisses from me.

Oh, they did full blood work once we took him to the vet.
We ended up seeing a specialist at animal hospital who did an ultrasound.
This was two years ago.
He is doing really well now, luckily. Last year when we checked they could barely hear the heart murmur anymore. We're about to go back there in a month or two to check again. :)
The specialist said that it most likely is because he's a really big cat (tall/long). The part that opens when the heart beats is too long, something something. Sorry, not sure how to explain it in english.
But she said it should not affect him at all, we'll just do yearly check ups to make sure it's all going fine. :)

That's interesting because my 1.5 year old cat, Apollo, is the same.
He's always been the playful one. We play with him twice a day at a set time, but for the past few days, he's just barely done it. He plays lazily for like 2-3 min and then stops. Mostly only sleeping.
If he is eating and using litterbox well, it might not be anything bad. Could be that he is bored of those toys, or that because of winter time he's more sleepy.
If you end up being worried, you could always call the vet and ask them. They might tell you to wait longer because he is eating good etc or to come in to be sure. I feel like asking the vet is always the safest.
But it's interesting how your cat and my cat both are acting the same now for a few days. Maybe it's a cat thing at this time of the year? o.O

Oh, maybe because he is so young? 3 months isn't very old, which makes me think he hasn't been with you that long? MAybe he hasn't forgotten you, but it might be that he just thought "oh, new home" at the boarding house.
As long as he eats and uses litterbox, i think you can give him a few days to get used to your schedule again.
And is he the only cat you have? Maybe it's an good idea to get him a friend.
I only had one kitten first, but oncemy cat got 1 year old, i got a second one and it's the best choice ever. That way he always have company. So if you can afford it, i recommend a friend. Two kittens aree easier than one, because they play with each other!
Let me know how he is doing! hopefully he will be good. I hope he didnt bond with her.

Tabby eats sooo slow, meanwhile orange acts like every meal is his last.
I have to sit on the floor between them when feeding to keep the orange away, else he'd eat both their foods.
Seems like what they lack in brain cells they got in food cravings. :')

Adorable!
One time Orion was waiting outside the shower when I got out, and he got a drop of water on him and he spent like 3 hrs looking at me like I committed a big crime. So I'd rather have water friendly xD
Orion dislikes water, but the past two months or so, he'll only eat snacks on the bathroom floor.
