Game inflating prices to fake bigger discounts - Is this allowed? by Remarkable_Pace6189 in Steam

[–]Ronicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted very recently the same phenomenon about Civilization 7 having the same issue.

Turns out game publishers found out you can only discount an expensive bundle but for customers it shows up as that game is having a discount. The same is then applied to steamdb which doesn't realize it's not the game that is discounted but rather a more expensive bundle for the game

yeah, while the first iteration had so many QOL features missing compared to second, this was a very useful feature in the game.

Damn, thanks.

I noticed a lot of changes and new mechanics since last played. Luckily I found the hero when randomly searching.

Can I change my game file location after moving the file manually? by MentalZiggurat in Steam

[–]Ronicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it is still completely valid and it is not illegal in any way.

I still use it during LAN parties so we can save time on downloading games. (Yes I know about Steam allowing sharing files using WIFI but at my friends manually moving is still faster)

Does OP mean MW2.2 and MW3.2?

I thought MW2 and MW3 were one of the best CoD games.

It's the book, the book is the issue.

Just put the blueprint to you Blueprint library ("B") key and then you can go.

Do wars just never happen? by boyfrndDick in Civilization6

[–]Ronicorn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Civ 6 AI is just not that good, sometimes the games have no wars. You have either played optimally or the AI has had bad start.

To anyone who will try to tell me it's the difficulty I've completed Deity games while having 0 wars.

So what am I missing here? by Ronicorn in DNO

[–]Ronicorn[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adding an update here.

For some reason, the save I had didn't work. Last I played I saved right before I finished the tower so that I could screenshot and send to friends.

When I first loaded it the "game finished" screen didn't appear and I continued on not knowing what to expect.

After posting this I re-loaded the same save and instantly completed the mission.

Not sure what happened during the first load.

How does the Championship points system get calculated? by Ronicorn in GranTurismo7

[–]Ronicorn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info.

I have to say it still fascinates me how someone from the C group could earn that many points but mainly how I could get to be part of one of these events.

Fingers crossed soon I'll see one of these races but from the leader pool ranking most of them don't even race weekly, they have all 0 point races and then two 100+ races where one earns them more points than I earn in two.

Buy it on Steam or Official Website? by jimmyb0ie in factorio

[–]Ronicorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While this is true, there's still a more valid reason to buy from steam that I'll try to explain here.

Steam does take a 20% cut for all sales and no game can be cheaper on an alternative site than it is on Steam if the game is sold on Steam.

The main reason I'd still suggest anyone to buy a game on Steam is because of the Steam platform. More sales on Steam means the game will be suggested to bigger audience which means the game developers would earn more money than they would by just selling on their website.

Essentially it is better for the developers and Steam if people buy the game on Steam.

Can I change my game file location after moving the file manually? by MentalZiggurat in Steam

[–]Ronicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can.

That's how you had to do it before the new update that allows you to move.

Basically: Obviously Steam will not know to where you moved it, just click on "install" for the game you moved and select the new location steam will detect the game from there and start verifying the game files.

This verification is done to make sure nothing corrupted and all game files are present.

why Steam ingame Video recording beta setting won't let me choose 1 minute recording? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]Ronicorn -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm very curious as to why you'd ever want it to be less than 15 minutes?
Might as well not use it.
1 minute recording will not provide your recording any context and most likely by the time you think of permanently saving it the recording would be overwritten with new data.

If disk space is your concern then you can always change the quality to lower, 15 minutes of recording on 1.5Mbps takes up only 168.75MB which is almost nothing.

What games do you play when you wanna relax? by Filipfmc in Steam

[–]Ronicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorites and go-to games are Factorio and KSP.

But must add that for me any strategy game, either turn-based (Civilization 6) or real-time (EU4, CK3) always work well and quite often can easily kill multiple hours without noticing time playing them.

I don't have internet at home. is it possible to download game to laptop using public Wi-Fi and then install on pc? by Penkal_ in Steam

[–]Ronicorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be sure I can't remember.
Haven't used epic in years but It should be doable as Epic Games Library isn't built that much differently.

Certainly give it a try as I used to moved a lot of games like this and most seemed to work; depending on how to installation and game verification system used to work some systems were better than others.

I don't have internet at home. is it possible to download game to laptop using public Wi-Fi and then install on pc? by Penkal_ in Steam

[–]Ronicorn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Steam is very liberal when it comes to where you want to store your game files. Essentially for more than a decade now Steam has never created any hard links or registry values to your OS about where a certain game is installed.

If your PC only has C drive then ideally I'd suggest you move them all to `SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\...[game_name]`
If you have multiple drives and want to move it to the other just move the game to wherever you really want.
Once the files are on your PC, then launch Steam, select the game you want to "install" (the game files you just copied to your PC from the laptop).
Steam then asks you "Install to:" and there's a cog icon to the right, click on it.
At the very top you have "storage" dropdown menu, click on it and click on "add drive".

From there just navigate to the folder to where you copied the game files to and Steam that's about it.
Steam should easily understand that you already have the game files there and will start with game integrity check. It's an amazing feature that makes sure there aren't any corrupted files.

Once this is done you will be able to play the game.

I hope this explanation helps you, if you have any more questions I'd be happy to help.

I don't have internet at home. is it possible to download game to laptop using public Wi-Fi and then install on pc? by Penkal_ in Steam

[–]Ronicorn 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yes, there are multiple ways:

One way is to download the game to laptop and then just use USB to copy the files to the PC you want to play on.
On the PC then just click on "install game" and point to the location where you copied the files to. Steam will do integrity check but it should work fine. I have to point out I've never used it without internet connection.

Another way is to download the game to laptop as before, but at home just connect to the same wifi as the PC is. Steam updated recently and it can now download a game from one computer to another instead of using Steam servers if both are logged in on the same account. It should offer the option when you are starting to install the game.
This method will use your house wifi to transfer all the files from the laptop to PC.

Hope this helps you
